Today, in this period, more than ever, the Socialist Party must play an active role in anticipating developments in society, rather than being satisfied merely with identifying problems. It must direct its political activity toward the broad masses and especially toward its own membership. This is an imperative requirement for all Socialist Party organizations in the districts and at the center.
This view, expressed in different ways by participants in the Socialist Party activists’ meeting of the Delvina district, held a few days ago in Saranda, is at the same time a continuation of the healthy and constructive debates being held in order to draw the most useful conclusions possible for the first congress of the Socialist Party. At this meeting, after analyzing the electoral process, the district conference, and the issues of further organization, it was requested that the Socialist Party have a clearer platform for the local government elections and for its opposition role under the new conditions.
In the discussions it was pointed out that the party organization in the district must strengthen its links with the electorate, listen to its concerns, and work concretely on the ground. It was also emphasized that the party structures cannot lag behind political and economic developments, but must be present where the problem arises, where the political word and solution are needed.
The participants pointed out that preparations for the congress should also be seen not as a formal act, but as a broad process of discussion, in which the grassroots should have their say. A clear balance sheet of the recent past was called for, without avoiding responsibilities, but also without falling into denial of everything. According to those taking part in the debate, the Socialist Party should appear at the congress with a clear programmatic profile, with precise goals for economic recovery and for the protection of vulnerable groups.
At the end of the activity it was underlined that the first congress of the Socialist Party constitutes an important political and organizational event, while the local government elections will be an important test of its influence on the electorate.

The national state, the crowding for various dribbles in the market? or some other mess? In the wording of today’s vocabulary, these are not metaphors but everyday reality. The free market, prices, shortages and quick profit have become the leitmotif of the day. People run after one another, after shops, after words and after hopes.
Sellers, buyers, the unemployed, small and large traders, all seem to have been thrown into a mad race in which haste is the first law. All this makes one wonder whether we are moving toward a market economy or toward an unregulated bazaar.
In this atmosphere of endless promises, where everyone says that tomorrow will be better, the ordinary citizen continues to wait. He waits for work, for goods, for wages, for lower prices, for stability. Yet in the meantime he notices that words are more plentiful than goods, that promises come faster than bread.
This is why people hurry. They hurry to buy before prices rise, hurry to sell before value falls, hurry to grab a job before someone else gets it. Haste is thus becoming not only an economic phenomenon, but also a social psychology.

In recent days, an expanded meeting with the participation of members and sympathizers of the Socialist Party has been held in the premises of the neighborhood Cultural Center. The chairman of the Socialist Party, Fatos Nano, also took part in this meeting, where he spoke about the political and economic situation in the country, the condition of the party, and the tasks that await it in the coming months.
Speaking about the local government elections, he stressed that the Socialist Party must present worthy candidates, respected figures and a concrete platform for the community. According to him, citizens’ confidence in the Socialist Party grows every day, but that confidence must be earned and deserved through daily work.
