VIEW OF THE CURRENT POLITICAL CONTEXT

The Municipality of Preshevë sent the same invitation to the Coordinating Council of Bujanoc and Medvegjë as well; despite our declaration, we cannot go to Preshevë, since we were the initiators of the meeting of the Albanian councilors. However, for the sake of good inter-Albanian relations and in order to coordinate actions, we will send our delegation there. As it seems, the Serbian side, with these invitations, wants to divide us Albanians. S. Islami described the very difficult situation in which the population finds itself and expressed anger at the attitude of Belgrade, but also of Shkup, which is behaving hostilely toward this Albanian territory. Around 700 people are seeking to be registered as refugees in Kosovo, and more than 2,000 families have left for Turkey. Mr. Islami emphasized that Albanians are experiencing this situation painfully, yet they pay taxes and passport fees in order to access other countries. The delegation also includes Basri Hyseni, representative of the Party for Democratic Prospect, who discussed their representation in the municipal assembly. Sela underlined that it is essential to maintain permanent ties with the government of Kosovo, in order to coordinate actions. He repeated the request that, within the PS, a special forum be created for Albanians of Eastern Kosovo. The chairman of the Party for Democratic Action stated that Albanians from this region are waiting for the citizens of Kosovo not to forget them and not to leave them alone. The delegation requested that their issue be raised in all contacts with the international factor. [?]

Winter roads are blocked by snow and ice

The government is silent — life goes on regardless. The government is silent — ... to force links between the South and the North On several road axes in the north and south, traffic has been blocked due to heavy snowfall and icy conditions. According to reports from the districts, movement has been especially difficult in mountainous areas, where temperatures have dropped sharply. Residents of several municipalities report shortages in food and medicine supplies, while the central authorities have not reacted with the necessary speed. The most serious situation is on the routes linking the northern centers with the central part of the country. In some places, vehicles have been stranded for hours. Travelers spent the night in their cars or in nearby buildings. The government has been criticized for a lack of coordination and for failing to activate emergency mechanisms in time. [?]

Information Embargo — a Boomerang for Those Who Impose It

Yesterday, before the meeting of the Council of Ministers began, in a conversation with journalists, the prime minister declared that restrictions on information are unacceptable and that transparency must remain a principle of democratic governance. However, various voices within the administration have called for stronger control over the information that reaches the public. In the first reactions, representatives of the press have described such a measure as a step backward and an attack on media freedom. According to them, an information embargo will produce the opposite effects, increasing citizens' distrust and encouraging speculation. Observers recall that such practices have also brought negative consequences before. At the end of the statement, it was emphasized that institutions should strengthen public communication rather than replace it with closure and censorship. [damaged text][?]
