CHRONICLE The clan of revanchists in power is driving the country into dangerous situations in order to cover up the failures of its own policy STATEMENT On Thursday before noon, in the neighborhood of “Skënderbeg”, Shkodër woke up covered with murals and slogans against the Socialist Party, on telephone poles, trees and walls. 1,000 people brought by coach from other districts of Albania, incited in the most criminal and shameless way by the top leadership of the secret police and the chiefs of SHIK, carried out ugly anti-socialist acts, loudly declaring that they “would burn everything belonging to the socialists”. Other gangs of thugs instructed by Sali Berisha’s secret police attacked the “Pogjani” cinema, tried to enter the offices of the Socialist Party in “Skënderbeg”, and destroyed everything that stood in their way. Encouraged by the authorities to commit anti-socialist crimes, the heavy units of the secret police and the traffic police blocked the city’s main road for several hours. This blockade was illegal. Thousands of citizens angered by this situation defied Sali Berisha’s thugs, who had occupied the city center for several hours. The cars loaded with thugs sped toward the protesters. Thousands of citizens responded in anger with fists and sticks. Thus hundreds of thugs and their drivers, who were maintaining an illegal blockade in the name of the secret police, as well as police chiefs led by the deputy director of the traffic police Kembri Çeliku and the senior officials of the police and SHIK, carried out a criminal act dangerous to constitutional order and public peace. Implemented under the secret and direct personal monitoring of President Berisha, Thursday’s criminal actions constitute the gravest anti-socialist and anti-constitutional act undertaken so far by the highest state authorities. They led to the deliberate brutalization of the situation and endangered a second April 2. The dark aims of the organizers are clear: 1. To create a pretext to delay as much as possible the trial over the “coup d’état,” in which President Berisha and his ruling clan are directly implicated. 2. To create the conditions for the activation of extremist anti-Albanian groups in preparation for the “South” scenario. 3. To eliminate all truly democratic and socialist forces, a serious obstacle to the anti-national and anti-Albanian policy of the Tirana government. 4. To forcibly turn Southern Albania into a different entity with hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Montenegrins and Macedonians. 5. To organize a second April 2 from power, in order to plunge the country into civil conflict. The independent Albanian and foreign media have long raised the alarm about Berisha’s destabilizing plans and those of his ruling clan. Brought by force in coaches and red trucks, Thursday’s thugs were not from Shkodër. They were from Krujë and Tirana, Mirdita, Kurbini, Elbasan, Pogradec, Lezha, etc. There is no mystery about this. The organizers who came with them had difficulty hiding their political orientations. One was named Ali Spahia, dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Tirana, who tried several times to enter the “Pogjani” cinema and provoke an armed conflict. The others were Eduard Selami, Pjetër Arbnori, the deputy foreign minister Kolë Topalli, and MP Tomorri Doshi, who arrived with two cars. All these “guests” of the Shkodër family were active on the most extreme side of violence. There were others too. The best known were Pjetrushi and Shkreli, but there were also dozens of others like them. The criminalization of the country’s political scene with such acts, the adventures of deliberately destabilizing the situation, the challenge that power poses to constitutional order and civilian coexistence, are driving the country toward the abyss. The Socialist Party of Shkodër firmly denounces these accusations, considers the Berisha government incapable of governing the country, and calls on Albanian and foreign public opinion to maintain permanent awareness of the need to confront the tragic consequences of the civil conflict, which is growing every day.
