ALBANIAN SOCIALISTS GUARANTEE THE PEOPLE: WORK, SECURITY, PEACE, PROPERTY, WELFARE
Once again, the Socialist Party expresses its commitment as an emancipated and responsible political force for the country's future
Clear visions for the future and the determination to achieve them for the good of the people and democracy - proof that the SP is a party of the future
Yesterday at midday, before Albanian and foreign journalists, the press spokesman at the Presidium of the Socialist Party, Mr. Riza Dauti, made known to representatives of the press the party's newest document, the largest opposition party in the country, titled “Answer to the Albanian People.”
Even in the very title of the document, the fact was evident that it was the fruit of the collective thinking of the party structures, of specialists from various fields and of public opinion itself, of the shared desire and the necessity to communicate to Albanians the real left-wing alternative for carrying out economic, political, and cultural reform in the country.
This document succinctly sets out all the political and economic demands of the socialists for the country to emerge from the deep crisis that has gripped it, for solving the many problems that are troubling the entire population today.
At the top of these demands of the SP is the implementation of the Constitution, to guarantee a democratic pluralist order, the application of legality and the return of calm to Albanians; bringing the country out of economic collapse, in order to create jobs, to ensure shelter and social protection for Albanians; building political relations on the basis of understanding and consensus, in order to guarantee social peace; creating legal conditions and safeguards to set in motion the creative abilities of Albanian citizens, to ensure them the property that belongs to them and the well-deserved welfare; working to develop culture and the national spirit with civility, patriotism, and tolerance.
In yesterday's document of the Presidium of the PSSH, the establishment of order and peace and the relentless fight against terror and insecurity of life are strongly called for, as well as the protection of fundamental human freedoms and rights, especially the right to life. Socialists consider it necessary for order to be established where it has been seriously disrupted, and even for state structures to do this by extraordinary means if necessary, but always on the basis of the law and the Constitution, without establishing wartime relations with the people.
An urgent demand of the socialists is also that, without wasting time, the authors and executors of terrorist acts and every organizer and supporter of them, of whatever political force they may be, be found and brought to legal responsibility.
In his speech, the SP spokesman, Mr. Dauti, stressed that the implementation of economic reform and the establishment of order and peace constitute, according to the document, two demands that move side by side. The country's economic problems cannot be solved without the broad and active involvement of all political forces, specialists, but also through the revitalization of private initiative, within the framework of the law.
For this purpose, the SP expresses its conviction that such an economic policy is necessary, one that will ensure citizens work and employment. Closely linked to this is also the demand for fair and comprehensive privatization, to put an end to abuses and corruption in the distribution of property.
In yesterday's document, the PSSH insists on establishing order in finance, ensuring normal market supply, eliminating inflation, and stabilizing the Albanian currency, in order to achieve a standard of living as close as possible to that of the developed countries of Europe.
The message that the Socialist Party addresses to the Albanian people in its document yesterday is at the same time a message to the entire political class and the domestic media. It expresses its readiness to take part in constructive dialogue and in consultation processes for solving the country's problems.
It calls for contacts and institutions with the parliamentary opposition, and especially with the Socialist Party, as the main force of the left and at the same time the party of the aspirations of the majority of Albanians, to be encouraged without delay.
The document states that in the country an end must be put to the incitement of political and social hatred, that practices of closing off and eliminating the opposition must cease. These only worsen the political climate and threaten the country's European future.
The Socialist Party considers extremely worrying the fact that in the Albanian parliament decisions continue to be taken that run counter to the vital interests of the country and the people, actions that intensify political conflict and encourage new tensions.
The PSSH considers that its political alternative remains the only reasonable way out of the crisis, to preserve civil peace and to lead Albania toward Europe.
