Gjirokastra with “Hands up”

Brutal police measures Special coverage of the day (not from TV, but from the Ministry of the Interior), of the kind that arrives for the dirty events in Kakavi and Lazarat: since we are here, let us exercise a bit of violence, a bit of terror and a bit of curfew in the cultured and calm city. And they did not hold back: they entered hotels and dragged guests out in the middle of the night, blocked squares and vehicles in a row, detained dozens of citizens and searched them, raided clubs and billiard halls, and beat and mistreated people. They beat them with their fists, even striking ordinary people on the head and stomach. An unheard-of and never-before-seen thing here. On Monday evening the city shrank and huddled together as if under curfew, fell into a state of confusion. The question of why all this hatred was the first and simplest one asked by those who were abused and struck, by those caught in such scenes, by parents and citizens. What has happened that the state forces its own people thus with hands raised? They’ll shave a few days in Gjirokastër, you hear (Brisku is what the police-filled vans are called). Brisku apparently wants to guard. Brisku wants to guard, but the barber has to find out because sometimes, as people say in such a case, you go out looking for wool and come out shorn. You can even come out completely shaved. The PD and its government are playing dangerous games in the areas it has lost. It does nothing but deepen the coming loss. Drugs and weapons, which the mouth demands, are not in the people’s hands. The first has seized the state, which also has the second in its hands, the weapon. Thanas Dino
