The General Steering Committee of the PSSH, at its meeting of 17.10.1995, after considering all the party activists in the districts, DECIDED To convene the 2nd Congress of the Socialist Party of Albania The Congress will hold its work in two sessions: First session - Before the electoral campaign, with the following agenda: 1. Approval of the Electoral Program of the Socialist Party; 2. Approval of the candidacies for PS deputies. Second session - after the electoral campaign, with the following agenda: 1. Analysis of the achievements of the PS in the electoral campaign; 2. Election of the Party's leading bodies. GENERAL STEERING COMMITTEE OF PSSH

- The GSC emphasizes the necessity of work in all directions and with all strata to guarantee: - jobs for the unemployed of the city; - assessment and resolution of the vital problems of the countryside; - engagement and full opportunities for intellectuals in productive and non-productive spheres. - peace for families and welfare for pensioners; - free and corruption-free initiative for businessmen; - total guarantees for domestic and foreign investors

Under the direction of the Deputy Chairman of the Socialist Party, comrade Servet Pëllumbi, yesterday the meeting of the General Steering Committee of the Socialist Party was held in Tirana. On behalf of the presidency, the Secretary General of the GSC of the Socialist Party, comrade Gramoz Ruçi, drew conclusions and addressed the problems arising from the developments of the Party's activists in all districts as well as from the meetings of the Party leaders with the electorate in villages and cities. From these meetings, the Party presidency believes that the main problems are the following. First, the Socialist Party now has political initiative in its hands. The question is to maintain it continuously and move it forward, always staying on the offensive. Second, the meetings held in the various districts of the country speak of the great strength of the Socialist Party and the trust the people have in it. However, some weaknesses observed point to shortcomings in organizational work in some districts. On the other hand, the shortcomings observed raise the need for the Party to be ready to face internal challenges, from words to deeds. (continues on page 3)
