Prepared to govern

The Socialist Party’s economic policy aims first and foremost at creating jobs for people In the next four years of PS rule, current unemployment will be reduced by 80 percent Employment and productivity are the basic factors for the survival of the economy. Employment policies should be viewed as fundamental objectives of economic policy and development strategy. Achieving them requires deep theoretical thinking and a high sense of organization and responsibility. Albania has the human and material potential to achieve them. Let us uncover them and put them to work efficiently. On pages 4-5 “The situation and possible employment policies in Albania.” By Ass. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ceni. The dossier muddle

Note Yet another controversial, if not suspicious, draft law has reached the gates of parliament. It is the so-called law on dossiers, with the subtitle “On checking the background of high-ranking political and state officials for the protection of the democratic state.” This is a formulation that, in popular language, might be called “legs without a head.” But what matters is its content. The content of this draft law, instead of clarifying the dossier chaos created by the ruling party, only complicates the situation further and makes even more suspicious the use of dossiers by those in power to fight their political opponents. In this sense, the purpose of presenting this draft law, the time chosen, and its very content aim at keeping power at any cost in the hands of the Democratic Party, using every possible weapon. The draft law in question does not aim to cleanse the state administration, in its most important branches, of former informants or officials incriminated under the communist regime; on the contrary, by closing the dossiers once and for all, it “fertilizes” the current power with all kinds of suspicious people. How malign the intentions of this draft law are can be seen simply by recalling that the dossiers in the hands of the ruling party have served to keep secret the past of many of its cadres. Used for more than 3 years, the Democratic Party has not removed from the political scene a single one of its members, although the number of published pseudonyms of alleged former informants is large. This stance also expresses the pressure that is sought to be exerted on the contingent of PD officials, in order to keep the ranks tightly closed at the top, at a time when below, like the electorate, ordinary members are abandoning it. The dossiers have primarily been a tool of pressure on the opposition, but the fact is highly significant that, by rummaging even through very rare cases in the dossiers, they have managed to exert pressure on it. In other words, many have had them in their own ranks.

Meeting of the PS of Albania with the People's Party of Albania

At the headquarters of the Socialist Party, a meeting took place between the deputy chairman of the Socialist Party Dr. Servet Pëllumbi and the deputy chairman of the PS Namik Dokle with the chairman of the People's Party of Albania Bashkim Driza and its deputy chairman Skënder Velu. The deputy chairman of the PS, Dr. Servet Pëllumbi, stressed the need for exchange of views and cooperation with opposition parties in order to dismantle the strategy of escalating tensions being pursued by the ruling side, which undermines the country's stability, the democratic process and democratic institutions. The PS, Dr. Servet Pëllumbi stressed, is open to cooperate with other political forces to guarantee today and tomorrow the future of democracy in Albania. The PS and the People's Party, he stressed, are also a party of resistance, but this does not prevent us from consulting, discussing and cooperating on important issues related to the fair solution of the national question, the conduct of free and fair elections, and respect for the will of the people. Both sides agreed that the struggle to defend democracy and its institutions, to guarantee free and fair elections, and to contribute to the fair solution of the national question and the progress of Albania is the basis for dialogue and cooperation also for the future. Also attending the meeting on behalf of the Socialist Party of Albania was a member of the General Committee of the PSSH, Dr. Vasilika Kureta. PSSH spokesperson
