The choice of the political headline demands even more active positions from the structures of the Socialist Party

In the growth of the Socialist Party are its constructive and balanced positions and duties in the interest of democracy, the struggle and active policy, and the realistic alternative it offers the country in the future. In this situation, in front of the political and social podium stands the strengthening of the Party of the democratic coalition, in order to make it a concrete alternative in governing the country and in achieving better living standards for the people. In this framework, it is necessary to better harmonize the work of the party forums and its grassroots organizations with the corresponding work of the GEC. A more distinct and reasoned work with the broad social opinion must be done. There are not few cases when people with socialist opinions and convictions have felt a certain numbness and confusion in the lines of the political work of the GEC. Such shortcomings and findings show that it is necessary to further perfect the forms of contact with the participation of the party membership and to seek its opinion on the most important problems of political developments in the country. These were some of the ideas discussed at yesterday’s meeting of the General Executive Committee of the Socialist Party of Albania. At the meeting, a broad analysis was given by a member of the Presidency of this party, the Secretary for Relations with the Public and the Coalition, Mr. Ylli Bufi, who spoke about the need for the further development of the socialist alternative and called for the structures of the GEC, both central and grassroots, to give it as much life as possible. In his discussion, Mr. Bufi also dwelt on recent developments, in which, according to him, the position of the political forces and interest groups they represent and defend is clearly evident. He said that by invoking the theory of responsibility for solving the current economic situation, the government and its majority have avoided, through a political maneuver, debate on the fundamental problems of economic and social development, in order to move on to a concentrated attack on the opposition. He further stressed that, in the view of Mr. Berisha and other right-wing ideologues and politicians, the Socialists are blamed for the various manifestations of the current economic and social crisis in the country, on the flimsy argument of the legacy they have inherited. According to Mr. Bufi, this is not only unfounded overall, but also a way of hiding the current government’s inability to provide real solutions for the overwhelming majority of the problems troubling the country today. The coalition government is mired in incompetence and is acting without a mask and in depression. The country has a government without much governance.

It was clear that in today’s parliamentary session, the opposition had prepared a broad critical stance on the economic and social situation. It was emphasized that the government’s promises have not been fulfilled, that inflation, unemployment and poverty are deepening, while responsibility is unfairly being shifted onto political opponents. In the discussion, it was pointed out that the political climate has worsened, that institutional dialogue has been replaced by accusations, and that the country is facing a lack of clear direction.
