1. Debate, an expression of the party’s vitality Reflecting on the causes of the results of the elections of 26 May and 2 June in our country, both within and beyond our force, the critical analysis that followed, and especially the active round table of opposition socialists focused on solutions, constitutes a new course in the right direction for the party, so that it may move forward as well as possible in the future. In the right place and at the right time, the SP made it clear that it will analyze and contribute to what happened in the campaign and its overall result, bringing out all the responsibilities, the manifestations and shortcomings that led it to this point. This congress will be a fundamental act of reflection and re-evaluation for the party’s functioning, for identifying and then defining a new programmatic and organizational platform, in order to overcome the difficulties that the PSH is facing in the current situation. It will assess the party’s basic political documents which until today, before such a situation arose, have been helpful, but need to be re-evaluated, because the present time makes this essential. By setting as an objective the explanation of the analysis of the loss suffered, especially among the ranks of the Party’s base and supporters, this whole picture should not be justified by blaming the list alone. In this context, the direction of the debate, the peace and the evolution that it will have with the coming congress must also be understood. The congress will first of all highlight the reasons for defining a new platform for improving and renewing the party’s structure and policies. In this sense, it would be superficial and wrong to suggest that moving away from the previous political decisions of the PSH means changing its identity and Marxist contours. Experience must take into account not only the tasks of the future, but also the problematic aspects of the past. From this point of view, the elections of 26 May and 2 June mark not only a punishment at the ballot box, but also a lesson. Therefore, a readjustment of the party’s direction and structure is required, so that it may be more effective and more credible in the eyes of the public. 2. What should be corrected? The analysis of the elections of 26 May and 2 June must first of all bring to light in a very honest way the reasons why this happened. This is above all to avoid the insufficient shortcomings in dealing with the opponent and his issues. The PD was clear that it knew what the forces of socialism were, and all of its former and evil legal and economic force was turned against us. But above all, nonetheless, enough of the PS against fascist editorials. Continues on page 6
