New elections in the shortest possible time

Yesterday in Stockholm: The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) calls for When asked by our newspaper’s editors about the decision of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the deputy chair of the Socialist Party, Dr. Servet Pëllumbi, stated: The PSSH supports the OSCE’s positions and relies on them to define its own political positions A constructive stance in support of democratic processes The news about the synthesis of the representatives involved in the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of America and Holland, of the OSCE commission for Albania, held in Stockholm, is very joyful news for the Socialist Party and for all the political forces of the anti-fascist and democratic coalition, for all political forces interested in achieving democratic standards, especially electoral ones, in which our country has successfully emerged and is emerging. For this news, we have felt extraordinary satisfaction today. This American consensual position, assisted by all representatives of the coalition in doubt and hope, is a support for the uninterrupted deepening of democratic processes. Since the Socialist Party has demanded and continues to demand the establishment of democratic parameters and the creation of a sound political and social environment in the country. To achieve this, we have opposed and firmly oppose all manipulative and distorting actions that blacken our country's democratic face before the world. We have criticized and continue to criticize the irresponsible measures of the government, which not only complicate the conflict with the opposition but also push the conflict to extremes, thereby causing political and economic harm to the country. It is now clear from the words of the high-ranking American and European representatives who came to directly assess and verify the situation and the electoral process in Albania that our country is approaching the unacceptable standards of a conflictual environment, based on irregularities and excesses. For us, it does not matter how much harm these acts and omissions have caused to the social and political government of yesterday and today, but what matters to us is that these behaviors damage Albania’s image in the democratic world. To avoid any further excess and conflict, to prevent social confrontation in society, the Socialist Party demanded and continues to demand new elections in an atmosphere of understanding, cooperation, and political stability. None of us expects or wants the government to legalize the harmful social and political rules on 26 May. But we have insisted and continue to insist that the review from Stockholm be pursued. The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly demanded the review from Stockholm. "Nothing can overturn its Assembly’s decision." 9.07.1996 From the meeting of the PS Political Council
