We share your disappointment
Warren Christopher in the American Congress on the elections held on May 26 in Albania
“With regard to Albania, we share your disappointment over the conduct of the elections in the most suffering country in the region; they were not held under circumstances that we can accept and be satisfied with, and [they] should be credible [?] ... of the elections, in order to ensure [their] ... We also fully agree with your view that the United States is still weak in terms of democracy and has not been as strong as it should have been.”

Party support in movement and development
The PSSh is the great force of the opposition, with an unquestionable contribution to the country, with well-balanced political and civic positions, with constructive and progressive visions and ideas to create political balances between present action and future prospects. The policy of this party has been, and remains, an important factor of the center-left, both on the national level and on the international and regional levels.
PSSh has conducted opposition responsibly, far from grand words and empty slogans. It has been careful both to oppose its political adversary and to remain attentive to the public interest. On property reform, the fight against trafficking, economic recovery and administration, PSSh has constantly brought reasonable alternatives and ideas before public opinion. Likewise, in the sphere of relations with Western partners, PSSh has presented a tolerant and civic-minded political spirit, with arguments and constructive criticism for the government. PSSh has not been for hasty decisions, but for institutional reflection and wise actions that benefit free citizens. If the government shows maturity and responsibility, many of the opposition's proposals can be turned into acceptable solutions.
In these years of transition, a political force with the weight of PSSh has had an important role in preserving social and political balances. It has appeared as a voice of reason and criticism against authoritarianism, against the arrogance of power and against any tendency toward exclusion. Of course, not everything has been achieved as it should have been and not every position has been perfect, but the real weight of this party in public life is clear. Its task remains to further strengthen credibility, broaden contact with people and offer workable programs.
Today Albanian society needs a strong opposition that not only opposes, but also proposes; that not only denounces, but also builds. Such an opposition serves democracy, gives meaning to political competition and protects the citizen from abuse. PSSh must deepen this profile, while preserving programmatic coherence, a sense of responsibility and a direct connection with people's daily hardships. Only in this way can support in movement turn into sustainable development.
