Clinton congratulates Meidani
At a meeting at the Presidency, U.S. Ambassador Mariza Lino yesterday handed President of the Republic Rexhep Meidani a message of greetings in which U.S. President Bill Clinton writes:
Dear Mr. President,
My warmest greetings and best wishes on your election as President of the Republic of Albania. The crisis in Albania has greatly concerned me over the past few months, and I am delight-

After reading the message, the President of the Republic asked
Ambassador Lino to convey his warmest thanks to the American President, as well as assurances of his commitment, and that of the government and the Albanian people, to moving forward along the path of democracy, democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the national reconciliation so greatly needed by the country.
During the meeting, President Meidani and the American Ambassador exchanged views on issues concerning the democratic and economic normalization of life in the country, and the need to find mechanisms and create a legal framework for the lawful and normal democratic functioning of all the country’s structures.
