SPLIT IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY
They do not recognize Berisha's congress
The chairman of the PD branch in Shkodër resigns
According to ATSH, the “Movement for the Reform of the Democratic Party,” which includes part of its former MPs, reacted immediately after the end of the PDS congress, describing it as “a disgusting staging of narcissism with no connection whatsoever to the developments of contemporary political parties in Europe.”
It goes on, in a press statement, to say that “the creation of the so-called PDSH party and the implementation of a strategy to change as quickly as possible the name and seal of the PD constitute plagiarism and a decree of return to the past…”.
“We denounce the remaking of this branch without consulting any forum and without asking the membership, with appointments from above, just as we denounce the manipulations and violations of the statute carried out in this so-called congress. We believe that such an act will harm the opposition and democracy in the country, because it lays the groundwork for unnecessary conflicts.”
-SHOQE[t] [S]ho[k]odër, the branch of the Democratic Party in the district of Shkodër, in a press statement, announces that it “will break away from the other branches if the center does not recognize the PDSH congress for Shkodër.” The local body of this branch asks the party leadership to complete the team by Monday, 13 October, according to the branch’s request for a secretary. “Otherwise the Shkodër branch will cut off all relations with the center,” the statement warns.
In another statement made known at the District Councilors’ Assembly in Shkodër, the PDSH considers it an “insult that a former communist should be placed at the head of local government in the region.” The former chairman of the PDSH in the district of Shkodër, Mr. Pali Delija, publicly announced that he would resign if he were elected chairman of the PDSH again at the councilors’ assembly as correspondent for “Zëri i Popullit.”
