NANO'S
TIRANA - the leader of the opposition Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, accused the left-wing governing coalition and Prime Minister Fatos Nano of blocking anti-crime reforms, warning them with the so-called democratic revolution and the nationwide uprising.
In a speech delivered at a political event organized by the party branch in Tirana, Berisha described the one-year rule of Nano's cabinet as an unprecedented state adventure and "the darkest destruction for Albania," calling for military intervention against the socialist government.
In his speech before the crowd of supporters gathered at the Student Center, Sali Berisha, when asked whether he had been forbidden to use the word military, said, "Victory for us has been and will remain the democratic revolution and the nationwide uprising," asking Albanian democracy to bring down Fatos Nano's scenario with a revolution.
In September last year (97) he had said from the "stairs of hell" that Albanians had died of hunger, misery, poverty, and nakedness in Albania turned into a Stalinist bunker. According to the same formulation, Berisha said that the "black year" and the dozens of Albanians leaving every month for emigration do not pressure him to withdraw, but to continue the confrontation with the government led by Nano.
In addition to accusations of corruption, Berisha declared that in what he called an endless war against the government, Albanians, after going on hunger strike and revolts, up to protests that [?] place of the cocktail prepared by the government and the opposition against each other to seize the country.
