LIDH META: ATTACK THE CORRUPT ONES
Whoever has stolen will go to prison
'Koha Jonë' falsifies the government agreement
Albanian Deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta
They want to deepen the crisis of trust in life; this government steals
BY ILIR META
Today, calmly and with a freshness never before seen, especially from the end of June, with the new prime minister and the reform government. The noises that quickly began in order to intimidate and discourage that reform, with which the country is moving forward, at the moment have nothing to do with the multiple obscuring of the political situation. These noises are aimed at undermining and weakening the authority of the new government, creating an atmosphere of distrust in public opinion.
The aims of this pressure are obvious. Some of those hit by the administrative, fiscal and anti-informal reforms are trying to portray a false picture of a government involved in corrupt dealings. Instead of accepting the loss of their privileges, they have launched a frontal attack against any effort toward transparency and legality.
My government has chosen the path of confronting corruption, abuse and clientelism. Whoever has stolen will go to prison. Whoever has misused public funds will answer before the law. This is not a personal battle, but a state commitment to restore citizens' trust in institutions.
The publication by 'Koha Jonë' of what is presented as a government agreement is a pure forgery. In this way, the aim is to strike at the coherence of the government and create the perception of a political deal that does not exist. Public opinion deserves the truth and not fabrications made up for narrow political interests.
We will not stop. Reforms will continue. Albania needs stability, order and development. Anyone who thinks that slander, media pressure or dark scenarios will stop this process is gravely mistaken. The response will be work, transparency and the law.
