US OR THEM! MAJKO: WE WILL KILL THE CRIMINALS
The prime minister makes harsh statements against crime
TIRANA - The Albanian Prime Minister Pandeli Majko yesterday announced—in an interview on Albanian Television—an operation against criminals throughout the country.
Majko said Albanians expect a state from the government he leads, and that the state would make itself visible. “People, wherever they are in Albania, are expecting the state from us, and we will provide it very soon by force” - the prime minister stated firmly. Yesterday Majko appeared very determined regarding respect for the law and the fight against trafficking of every kind. He said that as long as there is a law on speedboats, they will either be registered and used according to the law, or all of them will be seized. Referring to the incident in Vlora, the prime minister said that the state had not weakened. “The state remains the state,” he said, adding that, nevertheless, Vlora could not be mentioned as a center of trafficking.
Meanwhile, the prime minister was very harsh toward the killers who have often roamed the streets of Albania during this period. He focused in particular on the killers of police officers. Referring to the terrible incident in Ballsh, where four people killed and trampled a police officer, he said he had expected the police to find them dead. “When you kill a police officer, that mutt called a criminal is worse than just that,” Majko said. “After this incident I publicly spoke in favor of the death penalty, despite having been, while in opposition, one of the politicians who had signed its abolition,” the prime minister stated. Continuing on this point, the Albanian prime minister promised that very soon the fight against crime would become even harsher. “Us or them,” he said. “In this country, disarmed, the criminals are the ones who will lose. We know that we will take lives, but the lives of criminals!” Prime Minister Majko read out the forceful statement yesterday evening.
