At least 65 NATO aircraft began their strikes yesterday across the entire territory of Yugoslavia to curb the stubbornness of President Millosheviç, who continues his dangerous challenge to the rest of the world. A rain of missiles and bombs fell yesterday evening on several dozen locations in Serbia, Montenegro and the province of Kosovo. The main focus was on striking airports, military installations and weapons factories. According to reports, air-raid alarms sounded repeatedly in Belgrade and Prishtina, while explosions—at least 30—destroyed facilities and aircraft runways. There is little chance that the explosions were heard in central Prishtina within a short period of time, one after another. Explosions were also reported in the industrial centre of Pançevo, about 20 km northeast of Belgrade. Meanwhile, NATO’s second fierce attack devastated Yugoslav infrastructure.

Millosheviç launches massacres against the Albanians

TIRANA—The Serbs are reviving the old hostage-taking tactic previously used in Bosnia during the war. Sources in Kosovo reported yesterday evening that around 20,000 Albanians, who had left the capital Prishtina and other areas targeted by Serbian military forces, had been lined up under the muzzles of guns and tank cannons and were being taken towards Skënderaj. Their journey began yesterday at around 19:00. Sources in Kosovo said it was not yet known what the Serbs intended to do with them. Two possibilities were being considered: mass killings, or using them as hostages at Serbian military bases to shield themselves from NATO attacks.

Meanwhile, upon his arrival yesterday, the Albanian Government’s Minister of Information, Musa Ulqini, announced that 176 Kosovar refugees, who had crossed the Albanian border in the Kukës district during the day, had testified to a new massacre carried out by Serbian military and police forces. The Kosovar refugees, 96 of whom were children, had witnessed the massacre, in which Serbian military and police forces executed 20 teachers and a school principal in the village of Godenë, in the presence of their pupils. Minister of Information Ulqini also expressed deep concern that a series of massacres against Albanians had begun immediately after NATO’s bombing of Yugoslavia.

This airport was bombed, as was the area near Danilovgrad, where military installations are located.
