YESTERDAY, MEETING OF THE PSSH PRESIDENCY, APPEAL: EVERYONE TOGETHER FOR ALBANIA’S STABILITY Thirty days have passed since the start of NATO’s bombing to break the barbaric Serbian dictatorship in Europe. But almost as many days have also passed as we have witnessed the full implementation of Milošević’s bloody strategy to kill, massacre, empty Kosovo and destabilize Albania by unleashing a humanitarian bomb. The Albanian Government has now managed to cope with the technical aspects of receiving and assisting our brothers forcibly driven from their homes in Kosovo, as well as the political aspects of the crisis, becoming a NATO partner and a central force for stability in the region. The Socialist Party supports and encourages the Albanian Government in its work to handle the situation, while also expressing its appreciation for the contribution of all friendly countries and Albanian host families. The Presidency of the Socialist Party considers that resilience and stability in Albania are important factors in resolving the crisis in Kosovo and bringing peace to our region. The Socialist Party, as the responsible party of the governing majority, is the principal guarantor of this stability. Any attempt to create divisions and polarization within it would immediately affect the process of managing the crisis. The PSSH Presidency also discussed holding the Congress of the Socialist Party and decided to propose to the General Steering Committee that it be held as soon as conditions allow, depending on how the crisis is handled. The Presidency considers the Party Congress the only statutory body that will elect the Party leader. In this regard, there is no room for any other non-statutory initiative. The sole appeal of the PS Presidency is: Let us all stand together to preserve Albania’s stability, further strengthening the outstanding image Albania has created through its magnificent generosity.

Late in the evening: 100 fighter jets take off from Aviano AVIANO – Over the past 24 hours, around 100 combat aircraft have taken off from the US air base at Aviano. “Awacs” aircraft, “C-130” aircraft for high-altitude radar surveillance, EA-6B “Prowler” aircraft for electronic warfare, as well as dozens of F-15, F-16 and F-18 fighter-bombers, were dispatched. Yesterday too, takeoffs were concentrated between late evening and 07:00 in the morning. During the morning, however, activity at Aviano slowed down.
