TROPOJË—Late in the evening on Wednesday[?], sources from Tropoja informed “Zëri i Popullit” that the fighting which had taken place throughout the day beyond our border, in Kosovo, had spilled over into Albanian territory as well. A company of 80 to 120 Serbian soldiers entered almost 1,600 metres into Albanian territory in order to get behind KLA fighters in Koshare. Sources from the Tropoja brigade said that, upon receiving the report, an infantry company, a platoon of tanks, an 82 mm mortar battery, as well as forces from the Bajram Curri brigade, immediately set out for the border. At the same time, Albanian forces opened fire with all their weapons at the Serbs who were still inside Albanian territory. In less than half an hour, shells from tanks, mortars and other weapons forced the Serbs to leave Albanian territory, leaving many casualties behind. The Albanian side sustained no damage. Meanwhile, sources from Tropoja report that a serviceman was captured and taken in the late hours of the night to the military police station in Bajram Curri.

Sources in Gjirokastër said yesterday evening that the local police had taken all necessary measures to resolve the Lazarat vigilante action by force of law. According to the Director General of the Albanian Police, Veli Myftari, there are no problems at the site of the blockade, while the police are waiting for the armed people blocking the road to lift it themselves.
