Two prosecutors, Nasip Naço and Ylli Bedalli, signed an arrest warrant yesterday at midday for former Minister of the Interior Perikli Teta, on the charge of refusing to testify in the courtroom. Perikli Teta yesterday accused the Socialist Party of having him arrested, while any Socialist who had forgotten the orderliness of his time said: We found the minister somewhere and accepted him. Meanwhile, feeling sorry for those convicted, at times because of the former Minister of the Interior Teta’s vulgar language. Which Socialist needed Perikli Teta’s arrest, even he was unable to say. “Abc” This fact says a lot. In the situation that has arisen between Albania and Kosovo, when one cannot speak of a “Berlin Wall,” the aim of the inter-Albanian space cannot simply be disregarded as a geographical reality, nor can it be seen merely as a revival of old spiritual ties; it is also an “economic space” awaiting activation through a boom. The decline in intensive exchanges between the two sides of this formal border links them to a difficult dimension of the entire region. Above all, given that the Serbian [construction?] will continue to remain closed to the Albanians of Kosovo, a new alternative must first set out the maximum possible, especially regarding the fact that they have been brought to live together and interact freely, without obstacles. Naturally, this will be the best answer to how we Albanians understand the integration processes in the Balkans, while dispelling the fiction presented in the political reality of this continent that the division of Albanians in our region entails constraints as an alternative to change and war. The collapse of the “wall” separating Kosovo from Albania expresses a truth, as do some barriers in the interethnic regions between our country and Macedonia, which [unclear]. The easing of the movement of goods and people, trade, cultural exchange, investment and cooperation, etc.—a free, natural, informal zone; exchanges among business groups—would be effective and mutually beneficial as an economic arrangement of this kind, which is expected to swiftly surpass the parameters dictated by politics.
