NANO GATHERS PEOPLE AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT
But the choice has been made: Majko is on the right path

To ram your head against a wall is, naturally, not a wise thing to do. Yet even so, when you are trying to knock down a wall built with difficulty on foundations laid through sacrifice and expenses with many zeroes, it is necessary.
To have everyone tug at your ear, especially in the West, and even stretch it so far that, when they see no sign of reflection, they finally tell you, “Go...” and thus, as it was when [unclear] was fighting a new alternative, this too is not a wise thing to do. Indeed, it is out of fashion to be against the whole world. On Albania’s northern borders, these two cases, combined into one, have already been tested. In this region, nowadays, hardly anyone would allow some new hero to emerge.
Being critical of a phenomenon, and especially of a government’s work, takes courage. And to be credible, criticism must be clean and sincere, far from insults and populist vulgarity, piled up in sacks where moral customs barriers were never erected, even during your rule. But to be nothing of the sort, and to doggedly pursue your own way back to the end, outside every rule and without accepting the decisions of those who make them in Albania and beyond, stirring up disputes that come at great cost because of the moment on the Albanian and international political stock exchanges—that, too, is reprehensible.
Because just 10 days ago Albania received its maximum support from the world’s greatest democracy, the USA, and the American president Bill Klinton. A few months earlier, he had said that the USA would support and stand behind a new political generation in Albania, and a few days ago Klinton told Prime Minister Majko that he would help in every way for as long as his term continued. Meanwhile, in Tirana, the US ambassador not only confirmed this support, but said that a great deal of work was needed from everyone, especially now that Albania has the chance to enter the new century stronger than ever in its history. He said that Prime Minister Majko is moving along the right path, the correct path.
Naturally, after this, the people have also been chosen. In any case, they were given the chance to prove themselves and be judged on the basis of their work. Albanians, Albanian socialists, have never been so short-sighted that now, when everyone has come to Albania and for three months has praised this Government to the highest degree, someone else should come along and tell them that all of this—which an entire West calls the “Albanian miracle”—is “sparrow droppings.”
If all this is just an old Communist piece of paper once called a “lightning letter,” it can be thrown away immediately. But if all this is an attempt to destabilize this country, Albania, then on every road in Tirana, Albania and Kosovo there is a new generation seeking a future; they must recognize this as a deliberate attempt to squander once again, after 50 years, the American opportunity declared for Albania.
Tomorrow, so far, even in the Socialist Party, people have often been heard thinking about the fate of the younger generations. Everyone must know that the time has come: these generations have already understood that they must not irrationally lose this opportunity, because doing so would mean that they would abandon politically and personally, once and for all, those who offer them no alternatives, only verses that stifle the seriousness and commitment this country requires.
