ISSUE OF THE DAY Yesterday, the PD newspaper promised in a big headline that on Sunday it would restore the honor of Flag Square. In other words, the rally of the PD’s patient will restore the lost honor of Flag Square! In ancient times, when the first people were uneducated and ignorant, they attributed souls to objects. Today the madmen and ignorant people of the PD are doing the same thing. Flag Square in Vlorë has neither lost anything nor will it lose anything! If the PD has its Assembly in the events of the Spring of ’97, let it remember for a moment who started the chaos and who destroyed Albania. It must not forget that it was the PD that gave birth to, nurtured and grew the pyramid schemes, where the people of Vlorë left all their wealth. Posters are still up in Vlorë, with the names of the pyramid schemes listed as official sponsors side by side with the faces of PD candidates for parliament or its candidates for mayor. All of Albania knows that Berisha had Shemsije Kadrina at the head of the table when he married off his daughter. Now, what will the PD give back to Vlorë? Will it tell them that the pyramid schemes were created by Nanu from Bënçë Prison? Will it tell them that Ilir Meta killed the sons of Vlorë? Will it tell them that the PS made the speedboats and gave them to the people of Vlorë? If Berisha goes to Vlorë thinking that the most serious event is forgotten after three days, he is mistaken! He should think carefully in the City of the Flag, because in Vlorë nobody talks about calming things down! In Vlorë they know very well what the PD MPs, with Berisha at their head, discussed in February–March ’97: whether to attack Vlorë from the air or from the ground. If it had been up to the PD, today there would be no Vlorë and no Flag Square, and Vlorë knows this well! The PS did not tell Berisha, “Don’t go to Vlorë, because Vlorë doesn’t want you!”, as Berisha once told Nano when he wanted to go to Shkodër and was turned back by Berisha’s gangs. The PS revoked the travel ban for Albania imposed on those who want to move around within Albania—the very ban Berisha imposed on Albanians yesterday. The PS wants people at work, not out on the streets. Let Berisha go to Vlorë and lie and tell fairy tales, with the Chinese idea that if it doesn’t fly, it gets eaten! But before he speaks, let him ask the experts what Vlorë can and cannot stomach, so his trip doesn’t turn into a sea of trouble! As for the honor Berisha wants to restore to Flag Square, he ought to give it some “honor” like the one he would give Tirana’s promenade by naming it Ahmet Zogu!
