KOSOVO’S TROUBLES: The leaders of Kosovo’s Administrative Council—the chairman, Kushner, the deputy chairman, Thaçi, and the chairman of the LDK, Ibrahim Rugova—went yesterday to a village in Kosovo where two Serbs were killed and a third injured when a mine left over from the war exploded. They had been travelling in a car. Yesterday, Kushner, together with the other members of the Administrative Council and NATO General Or tunjo, was preparing to appear at a press conference as part of an awareness campaign against mines. Berisha’s reaction was schizophrenic: in the most ridiculous manner, he accused sections of the UN troops of being involved in trafficking with Albanian government officials, while his official organ, the newspaper “RD,” blackmailed Kosovo administrator, Frenchman Kushner. Berisha tried to conceal the reason why he was not allowed to enter Kosovo, saying that he would go to Kosovo when Kosovo had its own Prime Minister and President—which implies that he considers NATO troops in the Albanian province nothing more than foreign occupiers.
