PS & PRESIDENCY Yesterday, a meeting of the Socialist campaign headquarters, 48 hours before the official launch of the election campaign throughout the country On 1 September, Socialist candidates will be introduced throughout the day Nano to the Socialists: “We have no doubt about losing; victory is with us” • The Socialist leadership discusses all the details of the campaign launch • On 1 September, candidates will be introduced from the first hours of the day • For 10 days, from north to south, at every village door and every city door • A celebration and messages for the whole country in Tirana • The last two candidates: Adhurim Cara in Kavajë and Bajram Krrashi in Peshkopi • On 11 September, in Tirana, the KPD will offer assessments and give a stronger impetus to the campaign in its final 20 days • The “independents” have only a few more hours to decide; after that, they will no longer be Socialists • Political restraint toward allies, but STOP to any speculation by playing with power that has not yet been voted on TIRANA — Yesterday afternoon, until late in the evening, the Socialists met at the PS headquarters for another meeting of the Socialist Campaign Headquarters, 48 hours before the official launch of the election campaign. “There is not a single day to lose”—this was the basic message from Socialist leader Nano, which he will convey today to the entire Socialist grassroots structure, and which yesterday was passed on separately to all the engines driving Socialist energy. Thus, on 1 September, from the first hours of the morning, Socialists everywhere throughout the country will make use of every minute to introduce Socialist candidates in municipalities and municipal units. They will not wait for the official launch of the campaign in the prefecture centres. Instead, introductions will begin in the most remote municipality in the first hours of Friday and continue across all villages and towns, culminating in festive campaign launches during the final five days of the powerful Socialist campaign, from north to south, in the prefecture centres. Everything connected with presenting Socialist candidates to voters in municipalities and municipal units will be completed within the first 10 days. In order to express its decision-making will, the leadership decided yesterday to convene the General Steering Committee of the Socialist Party on 11 September. The Socialist leaders will determine the agenda of this meeting (its convocation is a statutory obligation); meanwhile, the message emerging from it will essentially provide a new impetus for the campaign’s other two 10-day periods, which will be decisive in bringing to the polls all Albanians whose right to vote is now legally guaranteed by the Constitution and practically ensured through the first genuine electoral lists. Yesterday, the Socialist leaders put an end to the matter by formalizing the decision of the decision-making bodies to have candidates for the municipalities and councils. In Peshkopi, Adhurim Cara and Bajram Krashi will be the two candidates seeking the votes of the people of Kavajë and Dibër on 11 October in the [unclear] of the PS. The Socialist leadership also examined several independent candidates yesterday, who have been set against the Party in the most flagrant violation of its Statute. At the same time, the Socialists stressed that they would continue to show political restraint toward the coalition’s allied parties, particularly the PSD and PA, stating that they stand by the agreement announced several weeks ago. However, the Socialist leadership said last night that it would not allow any kind of speculation by representatives of these parties, who are playing at the expense of power that has not yet been voted on.
