THE SOCIALIST (LABOUR) PARTY CONTINUES TO APPROPRIATE THE PEOPLE’S PROPERTY
— THE HAGGLING OVER THE DURRËS DISTRICT PARTY COMMITTEE —
FROM OUR CONTRIBUTOR IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BRANCH OF DURRËS, WE ARE INFORMED THAT THE LABOUR PARTY COMMITTEE OF THIS DISTRICT, THAT IS, THE «RENOVATED» SOCIALIST PARTY, IS IN NEGOTIATIONS TO PUT THIS BUILDING UP FOR AUCTION. IT WILL BE GIVEN TO A BRANCH OF A FOREIGN BANK IN RETURN FOR AN ANNUAL RENT OF 100,000 DOLLARS A YEAR.
THEY SAY THAT THE SOCIALIST LEADERS OF THIS DISTRICT HAVE ALSO OBTAINED THE APPROVAL OF MR FATOS NANO, AS THE LEADER OF SOCIALISM-STYLE COMMUNISM IN ALBANIA.
WE ASK: HOW LONG WILL THE ALBANIAN COMMUNISTS (FORGIVE US, SOCIALISTS) CONTINUE TO APPROPRIATE THE PEOPLE’S PROPERTY, TRANSFERRING THE PROFITS INTO THEIR OWN COFFERS? THE PARTY COMMITTEE OF THAT DISTRICT IS THE PEOPLE’S PROPERTY AND MUST BELONG TO THEM, LIKE EVERY OTHER ASSET, BECAUSE IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT THE PEOPLE SUBSIDIZED THE PP. THEREFORE, IT IS MOST URGENT THAT OUR PLURALIST GOVERNMENT INTERVENE IMMEDIATELY IN SUCH A DECISION, ISSUING ORDERS AND ALSO HAVING THE PARLIAMENT IMPOSE THE RELEVANT SANCTIONS AND LAWS. NOR IS THERE ANY REASON FOR THE PRESIDENT NOT TO OPPOSE THESE ACTIONS. I SAY THIS BECAUSE WE HAVE ALSO RECEIVED INFORMATION FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BRANCH IN DIBËR THAT THE PROPERTY OF THE LABOUR PARTY COMMITTEE’S OFFICE WAS PUT UP FOR AUCTION AND SOLD, WITH THE FUNDS GOING TO THE SOCIALIST PARTY.
THE SAME POSITION MUST ALSO BE TAKEN REGARDING THE PARTY’S VILLAS OR HOUSES IN THE DISTRICTS THAT HAVE BEEN PRIVATIZED; THEY ARE THE PEOPLE’S PROPERTY, AND THERE IS NO REASON FOR THEM TO BE SOLD AND THE MONEY TRANSFERRED TO THE RENOVATED PARTY. WELL, WHAT A RENOVATION: ONCE AGAIN, WITH ABUSES!
ENOUGH OF SUCH PLUNDER, WHEN WE WANT TO BUILD A RULE-OF-LAW STATE!

MP Agim Mero proposes reviewing the law on the status of MPs
On Tuesday morning, Democratic Party MP Agim Mero, on behalf of a group of colleagues, including Socialists, proposed that the law approving the MPs’ «status» some time ago be reviewed (read: repealed).
That smoke-filled session was quickly brought to an end, because the people did not approve of the MPs’ thirst (the majority of whom are «renovated» Socialists) for special material treatment. In the circumstances we are in, that session and that law were a continuation of the former communist leaders’ desire for privileges.
The proposal of the honorable Agim Mero was approved. Also, that same morning, though later, Mr Ramiz Alia announced that he did not approve of that law. We hope that our MPs (we mean the majority) will not make such mistakes again. They are representatives tasked with solving the people’s major problems, not with adopting the position of those who seek only rights and benefits while the people’s situation is miserable.

Life has rejected Mr Ramiz Alia’s assessments of the work «Our Enver»
Mr Ramiz Alia’s book «Our Enver» was published in 1988. At the time, he was First Secretary of the PP, and nobody could dictate to him that he should write this way or that, about this person or that.
So he wrote what he believed and what his heart wanted. And yet Mr Ramiz Alia showed such little sense of the future that, less than two years after this work was published, life rejected it. But let us see, by way of a brief review, what the pupil really told us about his teacher, whose «place he also took».
«He was a great leader, with an extremely intensive and uninterrupted political and social activity extending over more than half a century, with many-sided work and a sharp mind, which he placed entirely at the service of the revolution.» (p. 3). How great a leader he was was also demonstrated by the 10th Congress of the PP itself, which began distancing itself from his legacy, going so far as to remove even the name PP.
Naturally, because he considered him great (as is also clear from the author’s horizons), he writes: «I consider it a great good fortune that, from the very first day of freedom, I had direct working and social ties with him.» (p. 4). I do not understand what special good fortune it is to work so long with a murderer like Enver, especially when it is admitted: «... for me, Enver Hoxha, besides being a leader and teacher, was also an irreplaceable comrade and friend...» This was despite the Fourth Plenum of 1973, when, for the same reason, the author himself nearly suffered the fate of so many «traitors» who were imprisoned or killed... And yet: «Everything the Party has said about our unforgettable leader is correct. But there is still much to say about his figure.» (p. 5). If he were truly honest, were he to sit down and write this paragraph now, he would have to admit that not everything written about him is correct, because the opposition has so far uncovered hundreds of crimes by his idol, which it is hard to believe he did not know about, given that from the book’s reproduced dedication we learn that Mr Ramiz Alia kept a dedication in the book «When the Sun Rises», in which Zeus wrote to him: «To dear comrade Ramiz, my close collaborator in the daily struggle for the political and ideological development and progress of our heroic M-L Party, which successfully leads the building of socialism» (Read only in the Block).
Mr Ramiz Alia perhaps deliberately leaves the time of the Party’s founding in oblivion and tells us a truth: «It is a fact that his first photograph, published in the Party press, dates from the period after the Përmet Congress.» This is correct, because until then other people had been the principal leaders, but this is forgotten at a time when his participation in the antifascist demonstration of October 28, 1941, is made much of. Then, throughout the history of the National Liberation War, there is no evidence that he was even once on the offensive with a pistol against some «çaporlan». And yet that was no demonstration—... Later, «he gathered around himself the healthiest forces of the communist groups, the people most determined to fight and win, and together with them he formed the Communist Party and united an entire people around it.» (p. 11). Of the most determined forces, he left alive only that small handful of yes-men, such as Pilo Peristeri, because the others turned out to be traitors and unfaithful, although apparently Miladin Popoviçi, who was in fact the person directing Enver’s work, was not... Never mind: for the author, only the superficial aspect matters, that «... he stood at the head of the Party and the people as the legendary leader of the National Liberation War and the heroic leader of the building of socialism.» (p. 12). Regarding this: «Enver Hoxha belongs to those figures whose value increases with time. Like him, revolutions bind them and they belong both to the time in which they live and to the future. Therefore, for us, everything connected with Enver is sacred and valuable...» (p. 13). It is as plain as day that, less than two years after this assertion, Mr Ramiz Alia’s predictions proved gravely wrong, because not only time but also the Labour (Socialist) Party began to set his idol aside, and it even «judges» that it should rise up against Enver’s association. Naturally, not without reason, although «His work has been poured into all the sound foundations on which today’s Albania has been built...» (p. 14), it turned out that there are more errors, and the foundations on which Albania was built with Enver as its architect are collapsing. Mr Ramiz, although two years ago it was evident that our economy was going downhill—or perhaps to the author a downhill slope looks like an uphill one—continued his teacher’s tradition of lying: «With the Party at the helm, Albania will move forward without stopping; the economy and culture will rise to higher levels. Future victories will undoubtedly be incomparable with the achievements to date. This is in the dialectic of socialist development.» (p. 16).
We ask you, Mr author of the «renewal», where are that future and the dialectic of socialist development, when we have signed economic capitulation and any capitalist may lead us by the nose if the published documents concerning the RUKKEENT firm are true?
On that same page you say: «... This epoch has no equal and will have none... The new generations will be grateful to the Party and Enver Hoxha, who thought and worked day and night to make socialist Albania invincible.» Will those many thousands of refugees and their families agree with this conclusion you have reached, Mr President? Or, as a communist leader, were you then permitted to say things that were untrue, even to the point of absurdity: «This epoch owes nothing to the future.» I am not referring to the enormous debt in dollars, because that belongs to the period of your leadership, since Enver left the state treasury in that condition, but to the debt you owe to the innocent victims, their families, and indeed the entire people, whom the suffering inflicted by the dictator’s work drove to catastrophe. Well, to write this way two years ago means that you have become detached from life and the interests of the people, or that the apparatus is so thoroughly cut that it wants to serve everything up with a gloss; its audacity even extends to falsifying the dictator’s image, who, according to you, «in his person embodied the most precious virtues of our ancient people, that fighting spirit and ...»

THE ALBANIAN HAS DEMOCRACY IN HIS SOUL
— TELEGRAM TO MR IBRAHIM RUGOVA —
Dear sisters and brothers of one language, one blood, one tradition and history.
From our hearts, we wish you a happy first anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Kosovo. From deep within our motherland, where the pulse of our hearts beats like miners, we express our profound national feelings, assuring you that we are one with you in your joys and sufferings. At the same time, we express our conviction that, as never before in our history, the fate of the nation of Arbër is knocking at the door.
July Second, this historic date of the proclamation of the Republic, is also the date of the future victory of the Albanian nation, which for nearly a century has struggled and suffered, while shedding blood and enduring pain, under the scorching oppression of invaders, satraps, tyrants, fascists, neofascists, and the barbarous medieval rule of Greater Serbia.
Brothers and sisters,
This nation was neither subjugated nor assimilated by the Romans, nor by [unclear text].

MEETING OF THE PRSH CHAIRMAN, MR SABRI GODO, WITH THE VALIAS MINERS
On 2.7.91 a meeting was organized in Valias between the miners and the chairman of the PRSH, Mr Sabri Godo.
During the meeting, Mr Sabri Godo focused especially on these issues: the need to support the current government as the only solution for the country at this moment; the necessity of returning to work, both in the village and in the city; the fierce struggle that must be waged against vagrancy and complete distancing from such people.
The meeting also focused on another equally troubling issue: the rehabilitation of political prisoners, for whom no measures are still being taken.
Many workers and students raised many issues concerning the future of the mine, as well as the mine’s situation, the PRSH’s position toward the PSH, the figure of E. Hoxha, and the President. Mr Sabri Godo answered them: «The PS has chang—»
Regarding the answer given, Mr Godo ... received great support among the movement’s people in Valias. «Republika» correspondent
A GANG OF THIEVES AND TERRORISTS IN ACTION
— THE POLICE LOOK ON —
It is impossible not to be troubled and shaken by what happened in the village of Dara teje, in broad daylight and at night.
A gang of bandits sowing terror and insecurity for people’s lives, an internal torture game that brings a person to the point of saying: «Does our state exist?»
The situation is truly alarming. What one hears in the village! What one hears and sees! One afternoon, while we were waiting for the bus at the hospital stop, a young man put his hand into the pocket of one of the middle-aged men and took 250 lekë.

Members and supporters demand
We, the members and supporters of the PRSH in the district of Librazhd, observe that the PP (now the PS) was destined to fail from the time it closed itself off from the voters, from the time it left the village at the tail end of its program, from the time the Albanian bureaucracy began to grow fat while the abandoned villager still wore torn opinga and ate hard cornbread and pickles instead of meat, sugar syrup instead of cheese and milk...
And this same bureaucracy shouts at the parliamentary opposition: «You are dividing the village and the city, you are agents, traitors...»
For some time now this bureaucracy has no longer dared show itself among the people, especially in the countryside, ever since it reported servilely to the monist government and ...

The great problem of Sheqeras: when will the bureaucracy stop?
For many years, and especially during these past five months, the people of Sheqeras in the district of Korçë have forcefully raised the problem of their extremely difficult living conditions. Teams from the district executive committee came twice to investigate, and a team from the government came once, in March of this year. After inspecting the situation, everyone concluded that it was impossible to live here.
At the end of March, the government approved the relocation of Sheqeras to the Sovjan—Veliternë area of the district of Korçë. At the people’s meeting on 6.4.1991, the relocation decision was well received, but the way the solution ...
