On 8 May, the Government approved the draft law on the sale and purchase of land, which it will soon submit to Parliament.
The Government’s sudden action aims to complete the seizure of land, sanctioned by communist Law No. 7501, signed by Ramiz Alia, and to put an end to the landowners’ hopes that they might one day return to the lands inherited from their fathers. This is among the most treacherous actions taken by the current authorities against landowners and a flagrant violation of human rights. The Government will bear grave responsibility for the social tensions that may arise from this decision. The Republican Party calls on its members and supporters to mobilize fully to complete the petition opposing the law on the sale and purchase of land, which will enter into force only after the land has been returned to its rightful owner. The Republican Party will take further action to block this criminal act by the Government.

Albanian-language television station in Skopje shuts down
The only Albanian-language television station in Skopje, ERA Television, was shut down by the Macedonian authorities. Sources within the station say that the authorities gave no explanation for this action, offering only the pretext that “it is not registered.” The same sources state that all the legal registrations for their television station, which had been operating for more than a year, were in order.
ERA Television was the only station that enabled around 200,000 Albanians in Skopje to watch programs in their mother tongue. Meanwhile, a number of private television stations that connect directly to Belgrade and Skopje continue to operate normally.

Listen, do you all want to go to the dungeon?! If not, then listen! Before using privatization vouchers, you must wash them with water and soap. The water should preferably be boiling. Before eating them, wash your hands and mouth. Persons who refuse to receive privatization vouchers will be punished with up to 16 years’ deprivation of the right to vote. Recently, counterfeit vouchers have been presented. We warn citizens that complaints not made on the spot will not be considered. Those who have died are not entitled to vouchers, but may privatize an object if they are employees of the enterprise in question.
Fifty years ago, on May 8 exactly, Nazism capitulated. The Americans say this happened on May 9. But the facts and Stalin say otherwise. Victory Day over fascism is May 8, and that’s that. Any celebration held outside this date is a futile attempt by the forces that lost the war to divide the Allies.
The celebration in Moscow will show who is right. Moscow or Washington. East or West. Are you with the Allies or not? Every doubt will disappear today.
