Butros Gali on his knees before Karaxhicit?

Perhaps the time has come for Europe, held captive by the Serbs, to rise up. For three years, Millosheviqi and Karaxhiji have discredited, shamed and humiliated the European Community and what is called the “Institution of Humanity”, the United Nations. The psychiatrist Karaxhiqi is responsible for 200,000 people killed in three years of war, 20,000 Bosnian women (now the figure being mentioned is 70,000) raped like animals so that they would give birth to Serbian children; he is responsible for tens of thousands of children physically massacred and hundreds of thousands of others left spiritually crippled for life. Karaxhiqi, at the head of a minority making up 30% of the population in Bosnia, has occupied 70% of that republic’s territory. But he wants all of Bosnia, ethnic cleansing and its complete liquidation. He keeps the main cities, declared under the protection of the United Nations, under siege. He starves these cities, cuts off their water and electricity, leaves them freezing in the winter cold, bombs them if they move and bombs them if they do not. Sieges this long and so far beyond every criterion of warfare occurred only in the Middle Ages. Meanwhile, the civilized world monotonously reports the daily number of victims. Some rank Karaxhiqi among those who have caused the continent’s most shocking upheavals and bloodshed: Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler. It may be right to rank Karaxhiqi among the people who have shaken the continent over the past two thousand years, and perhaps he surpasses them, since the First World War began with

Criticism or propaganda?

Whether deliberately or sometimes even unintentionally, as if by chance, the ruling party’s newspaper, “RD”, also runs articles against the Right. Seeking to discredit the leaders of the PS—the chairman and some of the deputy chairmen—RD, in yesterday’s issue, published a montage of several of their statements under the headline “Go on, believe the PS leaders” and the subheadline “Ilir Meta ignores Pellumbin”, presenting their views on the government’s policy of seeking NATO membership. When one reads the statements above, one finds that they address this issue from different perspectives, but also differ in time, spanning a three-year period. Yet, considering developments at the top of the PS, where so far no leader has been dismissed or removed from office, by publishing these statements “RD” lends credibility to the Socialist leadership’s propaganda that “the PS is a party of a new type”, that “there is internal democracy within it”, that “there is a plurality of opinion in the PS”, etc. The quotations excerpted from speeches or interviews by PS leaders, published in yesterday’s “RD”, express, more than opposition to Albania’s accession to NATO, critical views of the way the government is trying to take steps in this direction. Thus, besides advertising in favor of the PS, “RD” also leads its readers to view with suspicion the government’s policy regarding accession to NATO or other Western structures. We would not have taken the trouble to criticize “RD”, but since the PD speaks from an opposition standpoint, the “faults” of the government’s mistakes and “RD”’s blunders in some way also damage the forces of the Right.

Mr. President’s weekends

After visiting Durrës and Shijak, he spent this weekend in Krujë. Apparently, Mr. President intends to crisscross the country, just as he did before the referendum. As in Durrës and Shijak, in Krujë too he visited facilities built by private individuals, heard about the successes achieved by the “brave and freedom-loving” people of Krujë in implementing the reform, offered valuable advice and important instructions on implementing the reform, as well as for ribbon-cutting ceremonies, reminding us of the time of the “great mummy”. No one complained to the President about the division of the land, the properties that have not been returned, or the devaluation of the privatization vouchers, etc.

Të ani Court decisions left for next week will be postponed for another week because the judges have not become acquainted with the new Criminal Code. Those who have committed crimes will be killed by God; they are not dealing with them. When the day of judgment comes for everyone, then we will all be judged according to one [rami]. Nobody had imagined this matter would be so difficult for God. I, too, am not used to my new [dalluen]. And in the [xharri] of a high-ranking leader of the last dynasty, documents have been discovered that irrefutably prove that elections were manipulated during his time. This is a truth that casts a [shadow?] over this virgin field of the period in question. The Bosniaks are returning to their land amid the wave of war because they cannot stand the calm of political debate in ... Better the Serb’s cannons than the political silence reigning here. Better to be killed by a bullet than by a word. Judges should be allowed to engage in politics because we will not be accepted into the Council of ... where judges deal with justice, the intensive period of transition has lasted a long time, and membership in international organizations is no fun. Those who are the first to join organizations are also the first to leave. The founding members of many parties are no longer with their own parties...
