Houses built on radioactive burial grounds
Millions of lekë to buy land that brings death. This is happening in Tirana, near the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
More than 30 families from the north have bought this land for 8–12 dollars per square meter. This land sows death because it is where radioactive waste is stored. One must stay 100 m away from it, while just 2 meters farther on families actually live there, including children and newborns. Page 3

Open letter from Mr. Godo addressed to the PR organizations and members
In a letter addressed to the Party chairman, the Mirdita branch raises several concerns similar to those also mentioned in a letter from the Durrës branch.
In addition to these letters, comments about a certain sluggishness in the Central Headquarters’ links with the districts, and about some lack of clarity, are also being heard in other branches. This means that the problem exists and must be examined carefully. The newspaper should be seen as a good means of discussing Party issues, including those of an organizational nature. This facilitates communication and the free circulation of ideas within the party, without fear that in doing so we are making our difficulties public. The Party Program and Statute need to be revised in accordance with the guidance of the Second Congress. At the June 29 meeting of the Governing Committee, the draft of the new program was reviewed. The many comments showed that the draft must be examined by special commissions. The commissions were appointed with the task of completing the editing by July 15. The aim is to convene the National Conference, or an expanded meeting of the National Council, in August to approve the Program, which is the party’s fundamental document and must therefore be prepared with the greatest care. The same work is being done on the Statute. In September–October it will be possible to distrib- (Continued on p. 2)
Rugova meets Gligorov
The Macedonian press gave special prominence to yesterday’s meeting in Skopje between the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, and Macedonian President Kiro Gligorov.
According to Macedonian media, the two leaders paid particular attention to the crisis in the region, first and foremost the one in Bosnia, emphasizing the importance of stability for the future of the Balkan countries. They expressed agreement that resolving the outstanding Balkan issues is urgent, and that this should be done through dialogue and talks.
The Rugova–Gligorov meeting took place after Rugova’s successful visit to the USA and perhaps, bearing in mind that Rugova was in Tirana before Skopje, he may have received a message from Washington for Berisha and Gligorov concerning a new option for the problems in the region or for preventing the conflict from spreading south. It may be that the close-

MPs before joining Europe have asked for their salaries to be increased. If the Presidium of the Assembly does not take this humane request into consideration, the MPs have decided to go on hunger strike. The list is ready, but is being kept secret because deputy Ruci might do it too, and out of force of habit he might burn the list.
A survey conducted by the Association for Democratic Culture found that 4.6% of MPs thought that citizens’ votes had brought them to the attention of the electorate. 14.7% knew they had been appointed. 18.7% stated that being a deputy is the only trade they know. 40% refused to comment.
The corruptive campaign—of services—is in its final stretch. The whole problem will come afterward. Many volunteers have come forward to harvest and spread things out, but the problem will be planting. People have started planting privatization bonds and harvesting factories, industrial plants, hydroelectric power stations, schools, apartment blocks, combines, etc.
Many ministers are utterly convinced that whatever the election result, they will not be moved. The heads of the Judiciary will not be moved either; in a word, there will be no changes, so holding new elections turns out to be entirely pointless. The notary has notarized the privatization of the minds.
Correction
In the previous issue of the newspaper, a reversal error was made in the call to sign the petition against the Land Sale and Purchase Law: “sign against the petition” appeared instead of “...the petition against...”.
The error occurred late at night, when the work process had become an ordinary routine. Unfortunately, the editorial office noticed the error at the same time as the readers did.
The error is technical, since everything is clear in the second paragraph of the appeal. This incident gave many readers an opportunity to come to the editorial office and point out the error. Fortunately, it seems that everyone understood it as a technical error.
Citizens, By signing this petition, you defend lawful ownership of land. You can sign the petition at the local branches of PR, PBK, PBD, PLL, the Association of Kulaks and the Association of the Politically Persecuted in the districts.
