Shkodra: “NO” to the law on the sale and purchase of land
Today, LDSH in Shkodra
After the rally held last week in Tirana against the Law on the Sale and Purchase of Land, today it is the turn of Shkodra, with its nationalist and democratic traditions, to say “NO” to this law, which stems from the communist mentality of today’s rulers.
The sweat and blood of the honest people of Shkodra, who made Shkodra an economic development centre for more than two centuries, are the cornerstone of their property, which today’s neocommunist government is determined to put up for sale, disregarding all logic and every international law. The people of Shkodra, who have turned their city into an anti-communist stronghold, cannot possibly accept the communist laws enacted by today’s state, such as the law on land distribution and the latest one on its sale and purchase. For this reason, just as they once stood against communism, today the people of Shkodra will be in the front line of the barricade being raised against the implementation of the Law on the Sale and Purchase of Land. This will show that the people of Shkodra are not so naïve, as some may think, that they can be deceived by empty rhetoric dressed up in democratic terminology.
The Ministry triumphs over the “stubborn” lawyers
The lawyers’ examination ends today. The dispute that caused many clashes between Albania’s 800 lawyers and the Ministry of Justice ended in favour of the latter.
Although the lawyers also appealed to the Constitutional Court, they nevertheless sat the examination. In addition to the 142 lawyers who obtained the right not to sit the qualifying examination, with the personal signature of the Minister of Justice, there are also around 400 others from 9 bar associations of the Republic who have obtained the right to practise the profession by passing the examination. Alongside these, however, there is another group of lawyers who were unable to pass. These, estimated at around 70, have the right to take the examination again after six months. Also barred from practising are around 50 lawyers who were included on the lists published by the Ministry of Justice. This category includes former legal professionals who, during the dictatorship, held the highest positions in the Investigation Directorate, the Prosecutor’s Office and the courts of that time. Added to these are the lawyers who refused to sit the examination in protest. A special decision by the Ministry of Justice will determine their future.

Greeks digging in Fier are detained
The Albanian authorities stopped the activities of a Greek expedition in the district of Fier, which had begun as an archaeological expedition.
The expedition included people from Greece and several people who declared themselves to be Albanian; for 12 days they had set up a camp near an Orthodox church in Libofshë, Fier.
The Ministry of Culture suspended the activities of an expedition that had described itself as archaeological and had set up a camp for 12 days near an Orthodox church in the village of Libofshë in the district of Fier. The expedition included Greeks.
Several months ago, “Gazeta Shqiptare” reported that large sums of money had been promised by Greece to uncover the secrets of Myzeqe and reveal the traces of the saint of the Greek Church, who, according to the authorities of that Church, lies in Myzeqe. The issue becomes acute given that, before the arrival of Archbishop Janullatos, the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania did not recognize him as a saint of Albanian Orthodoxy, while the authorities of this Church have still made no response to this self-declared archaeological expedition.

We are publishing the full text of actor Belushi’s statement concerning the law on the sale and purchase of land:
I fully agree with this law, which places the country of my ancestors among the countries of the Renaissance, in line with one of the most advanced European [models]. This law and the other laws have influenced the development of relations between [unreadable] and the two countries. Although I do not [unreadable] cigarettes. As for the gold that I remember [unreadable] politics, since it was seized by the Serbs, it does not interest me; I highly value [unreadable] now. England does not [unreadable] the laws that advance reform. It returns the gold [unreadable] to compensate Serbia. This is the reason why Albania has been delayed so long in being accepted into the Council of Europe.

Our socialist who speaks Macedonian
Fatmir Kumbaro, the Socialist Party’s delegate to the congress of the Macedonian socialists, greeted them in their mother tongue (Macedonian).
The Macedonians and the others who were present were astonished. On this occasion, Mr. Kumbaro wanted to show that he respects the host’s laws, which prohibit the use of the Albanian language for the 800,000 Albanians of Macedonia. The few Albanians who were present in the hall were appalled by Socialist Kumbaro’s knowledge of Macedonian and his ignorance of the situation of Albanians in Macedonia.
The Confederation—a one-horse show
The leaders of the Tirana Trade Union Confederation, who went on a visit to Greece from 28 July to 3 August, abandoned the delegation and became clandestine refugees.
Apart from the head of this confederation, it is still unknown whether he has returned or not, the other 8 members of the delegation, including the chief director and the chairpersons P.P. and V.L., have informed their families that they have started working and have no intention of returning for 2–3 years. It is also reported that this delegation was in Denmark three months ago, where they tried to become clandestine refugees; but since Denmark checks every delegation, after two days of being kept waiting, they were sent back to Albania on a special plane. Thus, the closest associates of Kastriot Muço, who organized the XII (2) Congress of the Trade Unions two months ago, abandoned the workers they represent. Although an emergency meeting about this incident has been held at the Confederation, it is still unknown what measures have been taken.
