He remarries with a cut ear

He has remarried the wife who sent him to prison 10 years ago. Happens once He remarries with a cut ear He has remarried the wife who sent him to prison 10 years ago. The strange incident took place in the city of Lushnja, when B. L. remarried his wife as soon as he was released from prison. The couple had had serious conflicts and, as revenge for the mistreatment she had suffered, K. L. cut off her husband’s ear. The wound to the ear forced him to severely abuse his wife and to undergo a court process, resulting in a 10-year prison sentence. But while he was serving his sentence, they reconciled and, as soon as he got out of prison, they went to the Civil Registry Office to be married. In the new family, everything started from the beginning and their daughters returned close to the family.

Serious violation of the constitutional provisions and the Parliament’s rules of procedure

Yesterday, on 29 January 1996, Parliament met unusually to discuss the work calendar for the period up to 8 February 1996. Approval of the People’s Assembly work calendar Serious violation of the constitutional provisions and the Parliament’s rules of procedure Yesterday, on 29 January 1996, Parliament met unusually to discuss the work calendar for the period up to 8 February 1996. PR deputy Prof. Dr Mehmet Çeliku said, among other things: “ This morning I read the People’s Assembly work calendar. It is not clear to me which work program this session is supposed to approve and examine. The reason is that the heading says from 29 to 8 February. Further down in the submitted program, item no. 2 says: examination and approval 29 January - March ‘96. Therefore, the date must first be fixed (30 March), if we are dealing with a two-month program. The program itself contains materials only up to Thursday, that is, for one week. So are we approving a one-week plan or a two-month one? Another issue I want to raise is the issue of pro- Continued on p. 3

In one line

In one line Rugova has been proposed by the Danish committee for Kosovo as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. The EU conditions recognition of Yugoslavia, tying admission to the issue of recognition of Macedonia, the rights of Albanians in Kosovo, and the return of Eastern Slavonia. The EU will only strengthen relations with Albania, and there will be no association agreement because of pressure from Greek deputies. 400 emigrants returned yesterday through Kapshticë and Kakavijë. The 13 parties will meet today at 10:00 at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana to discuss the draft election law.

PD will not take part in the parties’ meeting

The presentation of the electoral draft law in the People’s Assembly was PD’s final move in the framework of the election discussions. PD will not take part in the parties’ meeting The submission of the electoral draft law to the People’s Assembly was PD’s final step in the framework of the election discussions. That is what the General Secretary of the party, Tritan Shehu, said yesterday. For that reason, he explained why his representatives will not attend today’s meeting of the parties. Today’s round table had been agreed at the previous meeting of the political forces, where PD also dropped its electoral “bombshell.” As Shehu himself says, he has no doubts about tomorrow’s meeting. Meanwhile, the opposition parties think differently. Since they do not agree with the idea that everything ends with the electoral project prepared by PD, today they will also present their own objections to this democratic proposal. Some parties will even speak about a union against PD’s violations of democracy, in order to guarantee free voting in Albania. “But that is not their competence,” Shehu replies, “we are in power, we guarantee free elections. Now it is up to the Assembly to decide on the electoral draft law.” Last night PD gathered its parliamentary group, but did not discuss its electoral proposal. Shehu says it is too early for that and explains it by the fact that this was a routine meeting, where the large Assembly group discusses the draft laws that will be debated. Meetings are held every Monday, however Shehu did not attend it. Meanwhile, even at Brojka’s office nothing is known about today’s meeting of the parties. The chairman of PD Tirana had once put forward the thesis of increasing the majoritarian element and had taken part in the last meeting of the 14 parties. A. SIMONI

Fatos Nano is questioned today

Fatos Nano will be questioned at Bënça prison about the events of 2 April 1991 in Shkodër. An appeal is made over the 2 Prilli massacre Fatos Nano is questioned today Fatos Nano will be questioned at Bënça prison about the events of 2 April 1991 in Shkodër. Yesterday the 2 Prilli Association appealed to all eyewitnesses who were present at the moment of the massacre on 2 April to come forward and testify before the investigative group so that the truth can come out. So far, in connection with the 2 Prilli events in Shkodër, former president Ramiz Alia has been questioned, and at that time he was Minister of Internal Affairs. A new trial has been requested for the events of 2 April, because although four former high-ranking officials in Shkodër and three police officers who served in the former Party Committee of Shkodër were sentenced, the truth still remains a mystery. The chairman of the 2 Prilli Association, Eduart Perjaku, was the first to request the opening of an investigation into 2 Prilli, filing new complaints with the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office that also included the names of three former top officials of the Albanian state at that time.
