Journalists and party leaderships outside the vetting sieve

The Constitutional Court rules on partial changes to several points of the law - The requests of the parliamentary groups of the PS and PSD are rejected The Constitutional Court rules on partial changes to several points of the law Journalists and party leaderships outside the vetting sieve - The requests of the parliamentary groups of the PS and PSD are rejected The Constitutional Court rejected the requests of the parliamentary groups of the PSD and PS to declare Law No. 8001 unconstitutional. “On genocide and crimes against the regime committed in Albania during communist rule for political, ideological and religious reasons” as well as Law No. 8043 “on the control of the background of officials and other persons linked to the protection of the democratic state”. The PSD group and the PS group were seeking to have Article 3 of Law 8001 declared unconstitutional, since it excludes them from the country’s political life until 2001. To support the rejection of their requests, the Constitutional Court referred to the law on constitutional provisions, especially the chapter on Human Freedoms and Rights. It considered their request for a time limit on the right to be elected, as well as on the exercise of certain offices for a category of persons, unfounded, because in the constitutional law it must be textually: “During the 46-year harsh, extremely inhumane dictatorship of the party-state in Albania, civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, as well as the most fundamental human freedoms, were violated and denied through state terror.” These are precisely the subjects- Further on p.4

The Socialists may take power and lose it very quickly

Yesterday, in a conversation with Albanians living in Germany, answering the question of why he has taken a political stance ahead of the new elections and why he has declared himself against the socialists, Kadare said: “I have nothing against any party and I am not interested in any party.” Yesterday, in a conversation with Albanians living in Germany, answering the question of why he has taken a political stance ahead of the new elections and why he has declared himself against the socialists, Kadare said: ” I have nothing against any party and I am not interested in any party. When I was in Albania, in response to a journalist’s question, I said that the socialists should not come to power. I said it for their own good. Being so close to the dictatorship, they do not find it easy to break away from it. They may take power and lose it very quickly. Kadare has been holding meetings these days in various German cities with readers of his works.

Today in Parliament: the law on elections

Political activity around the electoral law was intense yesterday. All Albanian state and political structures dealt with the discussion of this law, and especially with the preliminary examination of the PD draft. The first to start this broad action was Godo and the representatives of 12 parties. They took the opposition’s statement to Tritan Shehu’s office. But no meeting took place between them. All the more so since the PD’s secretary general was in Vlorë early that morning. During the morning, meanwhile, the electoral draft law was handled by the laws committee of the People’s Assembly. Here the PD representatives made proposals that did not satisfy the socialist members of this committee. They had much to do with the appointment of the Central Voting Commission, proposed by the Prime Minister, and for the Prime Minister and the Prefect to have the district subcommissions. “These were two signatures we wanted to avoid,” commented deputy Majko after the meeting, “they do not bring any fundamental change to the PD draft.” It seems that members of the laws committee spoke about this law with representatives of the EC, but no comment was made about this by the participants. The afternoon marked the peak of work in the two opposing camps. At the same hour, the PS and PD held their parliamentary groups, where they discussed what would happen today in parliament. “We will say what is allowed,” said the left-wing representative, Vukaj, after the meeting, “within democratic culture, of course.” “We examined the PD draft,” said Dokle, “and we saw the positions of the small parties, which are bearing the brunt of it.” After the meeting, Dokle left with Mami of AD. It seems that the talk of a unified stance within the opposition is being confirmed. Meanwhile, the group of PD deputies also discussed the verdict they will make today and the opposition’s proposals that may be taken into consideration. Aurel Simoni

Keeping the national flag is a reason to go to prison

The chairman and secretary of the PDP are sentenced The municipal court in Tetovo has fined the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Iljaz Halimdin, and the secretary of this party, Z. I. Ibrahim, and in the event of non-payment, sentenced them to 1 month in prison, because on 28 November they raised the Albanian flag at the party headquarters in Tetovo. The secretary of this party said that “we will continue to fight for the political and national rights of Albanians in Macedonia” The action of the Macedonian authorities is absurd and, if one refers to the Macedonian constitution, articles 6 and 7, it says that “members of other nationalities may use their own flag alongside the flag of the Macedonian state”
