We are prepared to clash physically...

In 20 minutes, 24 candidacies are approved In 20 minutes, 24 candidacies are approved We are prepared to clash physically... The Tirana conference of the Socialists selected the candidates, who will be approved in the first part of the congress "We will go into the elections with the conviction that we will win more than 50% of the vote." That was the message with which Mr. Musa Ulqini appeared yesterday at the Third PS Conference for Tirana. A conference that could be described as assured and euphoric. From 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Academy of Arts had the opportunity to hear a detailed discussion by Chairman Ulqini on all the objectives that the PS seems to set for itself in this election campaign: privatization, electricity, drinking water, ecology and unauthorized construction, pensioners... even the table of 13 parties were analyzed with figures and details, a fact that shows that the socialists of the capital have taken Berisha’s possible victory in Tirana very seriously. Despite the confidence expressed by the speakers, the main statement of the conference, delivered by the Tirana chairman Ulqini, contained a phrase that he would naturally be accused of tomorrow as terrorism and incitement to violence: "We are prepared to clash physically if the election result is altered." The second session, and the most important for the fate of the conference, would take place without the presence of guests and journalists. For about 20 minutes, the 24 candidacies proposed on Sunday were voted unanimously and the PS will forward the following names to its congress: Luan Hajaraga, Namik Dokle, Luan Shahollari, Maqo Lakrori, Pandeli Majko, Servet Pëllumbi, Shaqir Vukaj, Ermelinda Meksi, Ilir Meta, Musa Ulqini, Agim Fagu, Et’hem Ruka, Erjon Braçe, Monika Kryemadhi, Luan Rama, Enver Reci, Spartak Poçi, Vjollca Ibro, Zabit Brokaj, Lasko Gjika, Sherif Budo, Fatri Sinani, Besnik Bare, Flamur Hoxha. The candidacies in Tirana of the Euro-socialist Kryemadhi and the journalist editors Rama and Braçe seem somewhat unusual, considering that the PS could field names such as Shehu and Meksi here. Perhaps this is where the essence of the confidence expressed by Mr. Ulqini lies, who stated that: "Berisha is a product of the street, but we will defeat him there too." However, it will be the congress that will choose only 8 to 12 from these names to represent the capital. The election campaign can be considered open. I. Stringa

For Alia, the investigation in prison

The clause set out in the Code of Criminal Procedure does not allow Alia to be investigated under a lighter security measure. For Alia, the investigation in prison The clause set out in the Code of Criminal Procedure does not allow Alia to be investigated under a lighter security measure. The offenses with which Ramiz Alia is accused carry a sentence of more than 10 years in prison. Under these conditions, prosecutor Shkëlqim Gani on Sunday requested that Ramiz Alia be placed under prison arrest, which was also approved by judge Bashkim Dede. His lawyer, Kleanthi Koçi, in an extensive defense, asked for a change in the precautionary measure for his client, but his arguments were not convincing to the court. More than 70 complaints have been filed against Alia at the prosecutor’s office, but 20 complaints, beginning with the signing of the order for the crime of the deportation-internment commission and ending with the events of 2 April, in which 4 young people from the city of Shkodër lost their lives, make up the entire arsenal of concrete accusations for which Ramiz Alia must answer. The remaining complaints, for which the prosecutor’s office has not yet begun investigations, will also continue to be completed in full. Ramiz Alia is the 32nd person arrested for genocide, while yesterday’s detainees are preparing for trial. Former president Ramiz Alia with his lawyer K. Koçi A. Gj

If the communists come to power, there will be bloodshed

DAVOS, 5 February/ATSH-Reuters/- Former Russian deputy prime minister Anatoli Chubais said today that there will be bloodshed if the revived communists of Gennady Zyuganov come to power in the Kremlin. If the communists come to power, there will be bloodshed DAVOS, 5 February/ATSH-Reuters/- Former Russian deputy prime minister Anatoli Chubais said today that there will be bloodshed if the revived communists of Gennady Zyuganov come to power in the Kremlin. He also warned Western businessmen who are circling around Zyuganov at the Davos World Economic Forum that they will lose most or all of their investments during the massive privatization, if their communist leader wins the presidency in June. "There are two Zyuganovs, one for outside use and another for domestic consumption," he said at the press conference at the gathering of business leaders and politicians, where the communist leader seeks once again to reassure the West of his moderation. Chubais read excerpts from party documents and Zyuganov’s speeches in Russia, in which the communist leader calls for the restoration of state control over much of the economy and condemns "the dictatorship of Western capital." "I think this policy will inevitably lead to a major bloodshed and Russia and Zyuganov and his Communist Party will be fully responsible," he said. Chubais said that Westerners, and especially the businessmen "who warmly embraced Zyuganov in Davos, do not understand that what they are hearing is the same as the traditional, classic communist slogans."
