The state takes responsibility for repaying the debts from pyramid schemes

Emigrants abandoned by their own state

. Relations between two countries, especially when they are neighbors, are built by the parties on the basis of mutual respect and friendship. Perhaps official Tirana has learned such a lesson by heart, preferring to apply it more in opposition to itself than to impose reciprocal friendship on its untrustworthy neighbor. At a time when the Albanian press, foreign agencies, and the Greek press itself speak every day about the wave of anti-Albanian hysteria that has engulfed Greece on the eve of the bluff of legalizing emigrants, the official channels of the government press defy the concern of hundreds of thousands of family members about the fate of their migrant relatives in the neighboring state. There is nothing wrong with loudly proclaiming projects for ferries and customs complexes, and it is even better when they are promoted as elements that promise “strengthening the bridges of friendship between Greece and Albania.” Indeed, putting them on the front pages of ATSH bulletins also seems intended to placate the neighbor who is once again angry with Albanians. The shame lies in the fact that ... while Athens continues to persecute and collectively lynch Albanian emigrants, there has still been no official statement from our state institutions. We cannot hide behind the argument that the mistreatment of emigrants is not carried out by the Greek state in order to justify this. The police who pursue and beat emigrants, and the border posts that tear up documents and send home those who came for the holidays, are state institutions and do not act without its permission. To ingratiate ourselves, believing the saying that “the hand that is not bitten is kissed,” by staying silent about the unrestrained racism directed at Albanians in Greece—and those who perpetrate this racism—and even by presenting love for them in the month of May, is more than servility and impotence. Above all, it is a betrayal of the unprotected emigrants; in this case too, we feel like orphans, abandoned by their own state. In this respect, our government is not very different from the Greek Embassy in Tirana, which, as usual in such cases, prefers not to comment, even when questioned by journalists.
