The Transparency Commission has lost its transparency

. In the Sunday news editions and on Monday morning, Albanian Television, with the help of the Commission for the Transparency of pyramid schemes, took it upon itself to advertise the newspaper “Republika”. The occasion was the newspaper’s article: “The pyramid-scheme commission: there is no pyramid system at ‘Xhaferri’.” This was the headline announced on the front page. Meanwhile, the article “The bank has not blocked our money, but papers” stated: “Sources from the foundation ‘Xhaferri’ have also informed ‘Republika’ that the conclusion of the Transparency Commission is said to have been positive... there is no pyramid system.” The same paragraph emphasized that the editorial staff had made every effort to contact the Commission, but it had been impossible. When you call the Commission’s premises, all you get is the signal beep... beep... beeeeeep. It is surprising how the Transparency Commission sounds the alarm on television and cries: “Republika is making things up... I did not say that ‘Xhaferri’ is a pyramid scheme... Who said that?” Why this haste? In Albanian we wrote: sources from inside the “Xhaferri” foundation say so, while regarding the Commission we said that we could not find its door. So the Commission is denying the source inside the foundation, not the newspaper “Republika”. To avoid confrontations with the press, this Commission with the fine name “Transparency” would do well to show at least a little transparency, since apparently it also has a spokesperson! What kind of spokesperson is this who, without reading the article, rushes to the Radio, TV, and ATSH and denies an article they have not managed to read to the end? If this Commission really has a spokesperson, it would be a good idea to establish contact with newspapers, at least to clarify the information that newspapers struggle to gather. Since the Transparency Commission took it upon itself to advertise “Republika” for free two days in a row (in fact, the entire print run of the newspaper was sold), we are trying to return the change by doing it a small indirect favor. We offer three recommendations: 1. Do not abuse the name “Transparency Commission”. 2. The statement released through foreign agencies that speak Albanian—“We will soon give our conclusions”—could be replaced with: “One of these days we will give some conclusion.” 3. We do not believe endless investigations are needed to conclude whether or not a company or foundation is a pyramid scheme. We are afraid that, just as Sudja let the cat out of the bag, admitting with her own mouth before her arrest that it was a pyramid scheme—and knowing full well what a pyramid scheme is—someone else may do the same without realizing it. Our recommendation: Give your conclusions as soon as possible, before one of those expected is arrested. A reminder: We would recommend that the Transparency Commission, if it has time, read once again the article published in “Republika” and then (again, if it has time) leaf through the newspaper of the “Xhaferri” Foundation, “Mirësia”. Yesterday, Sunday, on page two, it will find what “Republika” does not say: -The foundation is not a pyramid scheme. REPUBLIKA
