According to EURONËS, nearly 30 more victims were reported on Friday and Saturday alone.
According to EURONËS, election campaign. Everything happens before or after the “enthusiastic rallies” of the DP and SP with the people in different parts of the country, according to carefully prepared scenarios. Wherever the leaders of these two parties, former communists, set foot, there will inevitably be volleys of gunfire and automatic weapons, grenades and bombs with their deafening explosions, fear, terror, blood. The mutual accusations, made through the lengthy written statements of spokespeople, have become rituals that no longer have any effect. Everything is attributed to well-paid armed groups, or to the armed wings of the SP and DP, where die-hard former communists in red and blue suits, in an effort to seize or hold political power at any cost, seem unwilling to stop at anything.
The tragedy of this bloodied people has reached its peak. We are prepared, in these seven days remaining until June 29, to see and hear even what we have never seen or heard before. This will be the logical consequence of the intensification of this so-called election campaign, whose final tally will have to include not only the number of votes but also the toll of the war during the first six months of this disastrous year, 1997.
It is perfectly clear that President Berisha, who is partisan, and Socialist leader Nano have not realized that Albania cannot be put on the right path with the former communists in their camps. By now even children have learned that these people are the past and present of this country and its people, who must remember the 50 years of the past, the five years of the present, and vote on June 29.
The time has come for change in Albania. The country needs a new political direction, and only the United Albanian Right can provide it. Why? Simply because this United Right has no burden or desire for revenge for everything it suffered under the blows of the communist dictatorship and during the five years of “democracy”, when all the conditions were created for the installation of a corrupt neo-dictatorship in every sector. Because DBSH has a credible alternative for comprehensive social progress, in which the state will function as a state, citizens will have their absolute independence, and people will have their legitimate rights. Albanians need a new political direction that will guarantee them true democracy and heal the wounds that are still bleeding—old and new wounds inflicted by communists and neo-communists, who have never put out the bomb, even when…
