Albanians at the mercy of the neighbors’ broom

Yesterday Prime Minister Nano continued his schedule and received promises of help from his interlocutors. Yesterday it was also reported that our prime minister will be in the USA on 26 September, where he will meet with Mrs. Albright. Meanwhile, Milo, the head of diplomacy, began his schedule of meetings with Greek government officials. In the presidency, the names of the trusted figures who will head our embassies in the Western and Eastern countries are beginning to emerge. The lower-ranking mid-level officials continue the reform of careers by implementing militant, socialist-style meritocracy. The above facts speak of a dynamic government which, realizing there is no time to lose, is rushing ahead and only rushing. Meanwhile, Albanians still do not materially feel the benefits of the government. On the contrary, emigrants are feeling on their backs the troubles whose source they do not understand. The neighbors have taken the brooms in hand and are mercilessly sweeping away the poor emigrants. Milo in Athens, refugees in Kakavijë. Even last night the newsroom of "Republika" was not spared the nervous phone calls from emigrants who are forced to hide so that they do not fall into the path of that famous broom. The most common question they ask is: What is the government doing, why doesn’t it protect us? Yesterday too, returnees were not absent. They come and go again, burdened with the worry of being sent back once more to where they came from. The government of the country across the sea, Italy, has also seriously turned. Prodi states that he has spoken by phone with Nano. Nano, for his part, does not deny the phone calls, but that is all. In just two days more than 500 emigrants have returned. Indeed, as the Italian press also writes, there have been cases where the father was forcibly separated from his children and wife, even without being allowed to say goodbye. And for Prodi there is no going back. He no longer trusts Nano’s efforts. Albanians will return if they have reason to return. In fact, they are returning even though they have no reason to return. For its part, the prime minister’s office has laid down the twofold duty of the Albanian deputy prime minister: an agreement is needed. And they do this in the hands of the head of state, addressed directly to Nano. The Nano government must seriously take the problem of emigrants into its hands; otherwise they will end up as diplomatic hostages. It is not in the dignity of Albanians to hide in corners to escape the neighbors’ brooms, and the dignity of our citizens has no one to protect except the government.
