If politics is not made more democratic, the state cannot function
- Nano, I unblocked 120 million dollars; Berisha: Nano, resign...!
Yesterday, Berisha stated firmly that he has no intention of ending the protest struggle. He did not accept the fact that the protests in the square have been running out of steam. Not only that, but in his interview with the BBC he also let slip half a sentence: they will use all forms of struggle and strikes.
That is enough to shake the idea of how the Albanian state will move forward this autumn, amid confusion and turmoil.
Berisha is in opposition and the opposition has the duty to challenge the state, but there is one point that does not work: the former President seeks to bring down the state while it is still standing. He wants to organize protests, but he does not deign to ask the state for permission. That is the paradox.
Berisha's state, unfortunately, was overthrown, while the leftists seek to build their own state. Good or bad, this state must be respected, but the only unforgivable thing is the state itself. For the state to be respected, politics must be emancipated, and along with it Berisha must become more civilized in political struggle. The Serbian opposition demonstrated for more than three months, yet not a single pane of glass was broken, whereas we are once again ready to turn into foam and ashes everything we have left (what is left).
Berisha chooses the means of struggle himself, but his strategy for returning to power finds no ground among Albanians, not even among the other democrats themselves. If, for the sake of the chair, he continues to drive no small part of the electorate that remains with him into strike action, then whatever else he does, he will only leave the left in power on his back for a long time.
On their part, the leftists are also suffering from the arrogance that advantage and majority bring. Not infrequently they mock, ignore, and lack a sense of tolerance; indeed, the tragic event of the Mazreku attack could have been avoided if Dobr[e] and others had used logic and tolerance instead of irony. The left may indeed boast that governance belongs to them, but no one forgives them if, in the name of the party, they trample professional criteria underfoot.
Yesterday, Nano announced the welcome news that he has unblocked 120 million dollars and the start of 20 projects. On the other hand, 3.5 billion leks are expected to be mobilized for poor Albanians through the Red Cross. Meanwhile, in the Nano- Campi meeting as well as with the directors of the World Bank and the IMF, it was mentioned that without approval of the “package” of measures to stabilize the economy, the path is not opened for the 50 million dollar loan from the IMF and the World Bank. That is enough to pose the following question to the state and the opposition: will you give this money to the people, or will you continue quarrelling and make sure the money never comes to Albania?
The arrival of aid is decided here: if Albania continues to quarrel with itself, the money safe will remain closed.
If we want help from the world, we must build the state, but a state that the opposition also respects. For its part, the opposition must emancipate itself and not bring down the state. It is good that Nano sent his militants the message: deal with the opposition, while the opposition should not turn the return to power by any means into its own sole purpose.
