Clans challenge the “rules of the game”
The heavy weight of corruption, smuggling, the mafia and abuses of justice are preparing the ground for a new internal turmoil like at the beginning of the crisis, but to exclude the power of a group of political origin, which is extremely inconvenient.[?]
The Socialist Party is losing all opportunities to successfully carry out the great current national mission it has undertaken. The satellite parties[?] in name only are no longer there to help the PS achieve its goal, just as they can no longer be considered legalists and loyal to a coalition that came to power with the promise to fight corruption in our country, and has no power whatsoever to control and direct it in the name of the great national interests and not the conditions that the world considers necessary for respecting the order, security and peace of every Albanian citizen.
Yesterday’s debate is full proof that political stability, given the uncertainties of the leadership, Nano has already fully used up the reserves of public support to implement his governance. Since his replacement and that of Fatos Nano, who has never created any natural bond with the masses, it is evident that his scheme to use power and the logic of political allies to guarantee their personal interests must increasingly serve the whole country less and a group of people with wholly special interests more.
The new mafiosi and the strata of power, beyond the structures and interests of the PS, are playing a dangerous game for the country. Despite public statements and propaganda, the fact cannot be hidden that the country is once again slipping into a climate of tension and insecurity. This is happening because the struggle for control of the informal economy, state resources and institutions has become more intense. The clans linked to power are challenging the rules of the game and pushing the country toward a new social and political clash.
The alliance[?] of the deputies is undoubtedly the most prominent. The associates of big businesses, people with posts and strong interests, are using the party as an instrument to preserve their privileges. Meanwhile, the conflict over the leadership of the government has become public and undeniable. Nano and his internal opponents no longer have either the will or the strength to keep this process under control. Insecurity, lack of authority and harmful compromises have brought the country to a dangerous crossroads.[?]
Given this situation, the opposition parties should do nothing other than stand on the side of the public interest and firmly denounce any attempt to distort the country’s political and economic life. Albania cannot continue to be governed through clan deals and secret agreements. Social governance is showing clear signs of exhaustion and it must be understood that only a return of trust in the law and the institutions can bring stability. Otherwise, the risks of a general crisis remain open.
