Nano admits the government's mistakes
PAD is expected to be expelled from the coalition
The seizure through staged arson will always leave us outside Europe’s doors
The condemnation that Albanians are expressing toward the plundering in government forced Fatos Nano yesterday to make a self-criticism. The accusations with which he had dressed up his former governing ally, Enkelejd Alibeaj, and the head of the PAD, Neritan Ceka, sounded like remorse for the servility he had shown them three years ago. While declaring that he is in favor of reform in the markets for farmers and in processing markets, Nano said that for a free press, genuine solutions and fair competition, the only path is not that of seizure through arson, but respect for institutions and reforms. But more than being criticized for setting market justice on the right path, he implied that plunder with power has remained a trick of the trade—and it will not blush. Yesterday he blamed as the main instigators of the violent actions against farmers and traders, “opposition forces” and PAD. According to him, 15 February may be the day of the political renewal of the governing coalition. The prime minister said that his government is against market monopolization and against corruption.
