Yesterday the “Meta” cabinet decided to negotiate the signing of the agreement with the winners of the tender. Despite the articles published in the newspaper “Republika” about the incrimination of the management of the winning company, the Albanian Executive acts as if it neither sees nor hears. Worse still, it is legitimizing an action that may have unforeseen consequences in the future. Why is this happening?! Is it the administration’s incompetence, or its corruption? In fact, the head of Cos-mote has been accused by the prosecutor’s office in his country of corrupting government officials. Has this happened in Albania too? We do not want to jump to such conclusions just yet. But suspicions exist. For this reason, the competent authorities must verify the published facts. But is there a prosecutor’s office in this country?... The state’s duty is to be transparent with its citizens. And if the state does not perform this duty, the Media must be the one to compel it to do so. “Republika” will continue publishing material about the “AMC File” even if the Government does not take it into consideration. Convinced that we are doing our duty, the only thing we ask for is transparency. The state’s full transparency regarding its actions. Until now, normally, dialogue between the Government and the Media has been conducted according to the principle: “You say what you think, I nod my head.” But all the responsibility rests with the head. And the “AMC File” is a scandal that the Prime Minister himself must address. It is essential to turn back from the dead end into which the Government has gone with the privatization of AMC. And if the Prime Minister does not turn back today, tomorrow it will be too late...
