Radioactive cigarettes in Albania?
In the capital, “Marlboro” are on sale and are thought to be dangerous in Italy
TIRANA — (o.o) 30 right pieces, 40 pieces with two rights. A shop had to pay 70-75 lek for a “Marlboro”. Nevertheless, in Tirana such packs are sold for 120-130 lek each, which allows the sellers to profit. All these packs are suspected to be smuggled goods and, according to some reports, may be part of the cigarettes seized in Trieste. For several days a report has been circulating in Albania that a quantity of “Marlboro” cigarettes with radioactive content has been discovered in Italy and that part of them may have entered our country.
From Rome to Tirana, the alarm also reached the Albanian market. Street vendors, small shops, and roadside selling points are offering “Marlboro” packs without fiscal stamps or with suspicious markings. These are precisely the packs that have raised consumers’ concerns. Health authorities have not yet issued a full official notice, but sellers continue to market them freely.
Because of the lack of checks, buyers do not know how to distinguish the regular product from the smuggled one. Some of the packs have faded color, unclear writing, and an unusual seal. The news coming from Italy has led many citizens to temporarily avoid buying the well-known brand.
Some traders claim they obtained the goods through informal channels, while others deny any connection with the cargoes being discussed. In the absence of laboratory verification in Albania, only doubt and consumer fear remain.

Bitinka: «Civil air transport for passengers in the country will begin»
Army AN-2 aircraft for domestic routes
TIRANA — A military aircraft will be converted for passenger transport. This was announced by aviation specialists and is linked to the need to create domestic air routes. According to them, AN-2 aircraft can be used for short flights between cities.
The idea has emerged at a time when land transport is difficult and the road infrastructure has many shortcomings. The relevant ministry is examining the possibility of adapting existing military aviation equipment for civilian needs.
Specialists maintain that the planes could be used on routes such as Tirana–Kukës, Tirana–Korçë, or Tirana–Gjirokastër, if the small runways are improved. According to them, the cost of adaptation would be lower than buying new aircraft.
However, many technical interventions are needed for safety and certification. The project is under review and there is still no exact start date.
