In Albania, a camp for war refugees
TIRANA — The Turkish Embassy in Tirana is carrying out a project to set up a camp for Muslim refugees from the former Yugoslavia. The Turkish embassy is taking care of the refugees’ needs by providing food and clothing. The camp is being built near Tirana. According to a press release, the camp will have a capacity of 3,500 people and its construction will be financed by the Turkish government. According to Albanian agencies, this camp, “which will serve to house residents of Bosnia-Herzegovina, is equipped with all the necessary facilities such as cabins, a kitchen, bakeries, ambulances, etc., which have been purchased in Albania, but not from the funds of the Albanian government.” Speaking to the Voice of America, the head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina in Tirana, Mirsad Bilalloviq, stated that the Albanian government had “willingly” provided the land for this camp. It is understood that the camp will be located near Lake Farka, near Tirana.

Contract broken:
all seven newspapers
without a printing house
TIRANA — The publication of seven newspapers in Albania has been threatened with closure, since the Publishing Center last night terminated a contract with the “Mihal Duri” printing house where these newspapers were printed. According to officials from this center, the reason was a “lack of gas” for the printing house. According to other officials, the contract was broken because of disputes that arose a few days ago between the publishing center and the director of this printing house. “The clash deepened after the printing house was unable to carry out some commissioned work for the publishing center,” said an official from the center. “Last night’s contract leaves seven newspapers with no possibility of being printed.” One of these newspapers, the daily “Koha jonë”, is distributed in Albania in around 10,000 copies. “We are looking for another possibility — said one of the managers of the publishing center — but we still do not have a solution. Some machines in the printing house are continuing to print other materials, but not the newspapers.”
