FIER — (ed.la.) — A great invention has begun to be put into practice. It is called the magical anti-bunker formula. Although it has no credited author—the inventor is still anonymous—the formula has begun to be used by farmers in Fier and Vlora, to whom agrarian reform had “gifted,” along with the land, two or three bunkers. In any case, the invention is Albanian, for the simple reason that no country in Europe—perhaps even in the world—has fortified all its fields, mountains and beaches with “anti-imperialist bunkers” as “Socialist Albania” did. “A bucket of bitumen mixed with a bucket of diesel makes the liquid used to coat the bunker on the outside. Then two car tires are put inside it.” This is the Albanian anti-bunker formula which—according to an ATSH reporter—is based on the thermochemical principles of concrete destruction, which is considerably weakened as a result of the heat and gases released. That is all. For all those who, having forgotten the years of the “great bunker, Albania,” now want to forget the small bunkers that have taken over their land. Because, now that aid is coming from that direction, no one believes anymore that aggression is coming. The body is identified by family members The young man from Vlora was executed by the regime in 1975 FATOS BAXHAKU TIRANA — He was executed in 1975, and only now, after 18 years, have his relatives been able to bury their loved one. For 18 years his body was kept in formalin, and medical students used it to learn human anatomy. This is the story of Sulejman Kadria, a young man from Vlora whose mutilated body was found some time ago in the Central Morgue of Tirana Hospital and identified by his family only a few days ago. The name of Sulejman’s brother is familiar to Gazeta readers from another story. Some time ago, news was published that a citizen from Vlora—Myrteza Kadria—had sent a message out to sea in a bottle and was seeking contact with its unknown author. “I was looking for the author of the message, but I found my dead brother,” Myrteza tells Gazeta. He is one of the main people involved in finding and identifying Sulejman’s body. He also shows the photographs in which his brother’s body can be seen. The story of Sulejman Kadria is similar to many others coming to light at this time. From a persecuted family—which had been interned for many years in the village of Akërni—poor and with many children, he worked as a laborer. At the beginning of the 1970s, he and some of his friends were working in Elbasan on the construction of the Metallurgical Complex, and it was precisely here that the tragedy of his life began. Dissatisfied with the regime, four friends—all from Vlora, including Sulejman—tried to hijack a car and flee toward the border, but failed because they were arrested by the police. A show trial followed in Durrës, accompanied by great publicity. It was meant to frighten anyone who might think of doing something similar. He was accused of murder, attempting to rob the savings bank in Elbasan, and attempting to escape. “Charges that were never proven,” his relatives insist. “They didn’t even notify us so we could attend our brother’s sentencing,” Myrteza says, “and until quite recently we had hoped he might still be alive. We received such favors.” But the family’s hopes began to fade when the media reported that several unidentified bodies had been found in the morgue of Tirana Hospital. It was then that Myrteza began to suspect: “Perhaps that body, too...” Then he saw the face, although it had been disfigured by what had happened to Sulejman. His sisters came later. For them, too, there was no longer any doubt: it was him. “I had missed him so much. I never thought they could have gone this far. There are no words to describe the sight I saw.” On the body, at the back, marks from two gunshot wounds were found. Thus, after 18 years in formalin, the family was able to pay Sulejman Kadria its final respects. Only a few days later came another chilling announcement: another body in the same morgue had been identified. It was Bahtjar Avduli, Sulejman’s friend and a fellow defendant in the same trial. The two friends shared a tragic fate. He was identified by the few relatives he had left, because almost immediately after his execution both his parents had died of grief. Myrteza helped in this case as well. “I thank the senior state authorities and the investigator Gafur Leka,” he says, ending his tragic account. SARANDË — Tension on the southern coast. The Albanian Ministry of Defense announced that on Wednesday the fishing boat “Sopoti” was fired upon in Albanian waters—and not Greek waters—by a speedboat carrying four Greek soldiers. The same sources emphasized that, despite being hit by mortar and revolver fire, none of the Albanian fishing boat’s crew was wounded. “The captain told the Greeks on the gunboat that the fishing boat was in Albanian waters and would not change its course,” the Naval Combat Department confirmed. Police are pursuing the perpetrators of the crimes TIRANA — Two killings have been reported within a few days in different parts of the country. In Fushë-Krujë, Islam Kasalla, 30, was killed, stabbed to death by his neighbor. Hundreds of kilometers away, in the highlands of the Shkëlzen mountains, a violent quarrel claimed two lives. Two brothers, Guxim and Betim Demaj, aged 22 and 26, were killed by shots fired from the revolvers of a group of four young men. The incident in Fushë-Krujë took place five days ago. After a trivial quarrel, Islam Veshti stabbed his close neighbor, Islam Kasalla. The victim died, while the assailant fled in an unknown direction. Sources at the Krujë District Police confirmed the killer’s identity and described the act as “murder for trivial motives.” The events on Mount Shkëlzen unfolded differently from those in Fushë-Krujë. On the mountain, near a slab marking a sacred site, a traditional celebration was taking place. It was here that a fierce dispute broke out between the two Demaj brothers and another group of young men over a place claimed by both sides. Only a few minutes passed before the celebratory gunshots fired by people at the gathering were joined by shots from revolvers. The two brothers, one of whom was married and had a child, were killed. The four young men fled quickly, almost in combat formation, in an unknown direction. There is still no information as to whether the Tropojë police have managed to identify or detain the perpetrators.
