The first sentence for Fatos Nano

Prison Directorate: "He broke the rules" TRIANA LAG For the charges against the socialist leader Fatos Nano, a man who made a name for himself in Albanian politics, the first decision was issued yesterday. Sources from the Prison Directorate confirmed that the former prime minister has been punished with a ban on books and newspapers, after an incident that occurred on Tuesday morning in the prison premises. The news was announced by the prison administration. According to it, Nano attempted to break the institution's internal rules and did not accept the guard's order to return to his cell. The decision was taken after consultations with prison officials and the responsible security staff. A brief notice states that the disciplinary measure is temporary and related to a violation of the rules. Other sources claim that Nano protested about the conditions and the restriction of contact with family members. The administration denies this version and insists that this is only a disciplinary violation. It remains unclear whether the case will have other legal consequences or will end with this administrative punishment.

Even the book industry is in a "survival" battle, in the transition phase

The government has implemented subsidies for new talents SPRIO ILO TIRANE - In Tirana's bookstores, the shelves are full of new and old titles, but buyers are few. New publishers describe the situation as a period of survival, in which printing costs, the lack of quality paper and the lack of capital are keeping ambitious projects at bay. However, according to them, the transition has also created a new space for new authors and translations. In some cases the government has subsidized the publication of first books or works of national interest. Publishers say the main problem remains the distribution network. Private bookstores are trying to keep the market alive, while public institutions buy little. Print runs are low and prices often exceed readers' means. However, some publishers believe that interest in books will rise once the economy stabilizes. They are calling for easier tax policies, softer customs duties on paper and incentives for public libraries. Shop window in Tirana

Top in Albania IN DURRËS E KËSHE? C'MBAN BO FOR USE FOR HURRËSHKËT OF KORÇA [?] At the port of Durrës, it had been a long time since residents had been able to see such a sight: a three-masted training ship, anchored near the quay, has attracted the attention of residents and holidaymakers. The ship flies a foreign flag and, according to the crew, is part of a training voyage in the Mediterranean. Many visitors have come close to see it up close, while port authorities have allowed a limited number of citizens to board. Some sailors explained that the vessel is used for training and that the visit to Durrës is part of a broader itinerary. Its presence has created a festive atmosphere in the port area. Children have spent a long time admiring the tall masts and ropes, while adults have taken photographs. It is not known how many days it will remain in port, but the news has aroused particular interest in the city.

Victims of armament also beyond the borders

SHKODER / Drumo[?]ni 13 murders by the regime SHKODËR - Another testimony to the consequences of uncontrolled armament comes from the north of the country. According to local sources, several people have lost their lives or been seriously injured in incidents that took place near the border. Residents claim that weapons are circulating freely and often end up in the hands of young people or criminal groups. Law enforcement authorities acknowledge that the situation remains worrying and that checks are insufficient. The victims' families are calling for full investigations and criminal accountability for the people who traffic weapons. According to them, many cases are closed with no culprits identified, while fear prevents witnesses from speaking. Local leaders are calling for a national disarmament plan and stronger patrols in hot spots. The issue is also taking on dimensions beyond the borders, due to the illegal movement of weapons toward neighboring countries.

For the first time in Albania, judges wear the black robe

International symbols of justice appear TIRANE, GAZ. S - On Saturday in the courtroom, the new symbolism of justice was presented for the first time. Judges appeared in black robes, a practice well known in many European countries, but until now unusual in Albania. Sources from the judicial system say the decision aims to increase the solemnity of the proceedings and strengthen the institutional authority of the courts. According to the first comments, the public welcomed the change with curiosity, while jurists called it a step toward international standards. Some observers stress that symbolism is not enough if it is not accompanied by real reforms in the administration of justice. Nevertheless, the new appearance has been considered a sign of the new era and of closer alignment with Western practices.
