1,200 kiosks by the end of the year

Tax for tables outside the premises TIRANA / 33,000 licenses for commercial activity TIRANA — According to the general director of public services, Taqi Rrapaj, the municipality of the capital has issued 33,000 licenses for commercial activities. Of these, 11,000 are merchants, 500 are kiosk bathrooms occupied by street vending, 700 are shops, 1,200 are kiosks, 56 are bars, 40 are hotels and 125 are tourist agencies. The amount collected from these licenses reaches 3 billion lek. Street vendors are being placed in designated locations according to their professions. For example, clothing sellers are being grouped in the "Studenti" district, separated by type of trade. Traders who have occupied the sidewalks in the city center will be forced to leave. The municipality will decide that every market area must have its own sidewalk. Grocery shops on "Rruga e Kavajës" will be taxed. It will be 200 lek per display window, 400 lek for tables set up outside the shop, and 800 lek for the refrigerator placed in front of the shop. "Tirana, as the capital, needs beautiful kiosks. Most of these trading kiosks are in very poor condition, built without permits and offering no aesthetic service whatsoever. We at the Municipality hope they will be gradually replaced by modern kiosks," says Mr. Rrapaj. For sanitation, only one semi-functional vehicle is currently operating in the city. Therefore, for the removal of waste from Tirana, the municipality has signed a contract with the company "Rruga-Ura", under which 5 trucks will be rented for waste removal. According to the agreement, the company "Rruga-Ura" will carry out the transport, while the municipality will cover the driver's salary and the fuel. In this way, the collection of rubbish and waste in the city of Tirana will take place from 4 to 12 in the morning. Meanwhile, a special body will be established for greening and the creation of flower gardens in the city. To favor the company "Rruga-Ura" for the service it has rendered to Tirana, the capital's municipality, by decision of the Municipal Council, will reward it with property rights equal to what it owes for waste transport. According to Mr. Rrapaj, there will also be 25 vehicles arriving from abroad as aid for Tirana, 11 of which will be special vehicles for city sanitation.
