Industry waiting for raw materials ANDREA STEFANI Suddenly, within (1 year and 8 months), our country has benefited from only 11 million ECU out of the 30 million allocated by the EC for food aid, under the contract signed at the headquarters of Rinas Airport between the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Ylli Bufi, and the EC representative in Tirana. This was reported in yesterday’s press by the general director of the state reserves directorate in the Ministry of Agriculture, Alfred Agalliu. He said that our country still has a great need for raw materials and especially for wheat, corn, oil and other food products. According to him, the implementation of the contract has been delayed and this has had a direct impact on supplying industry with raw materials. He stressed that the promised aid has still not fully arrived and that this situation is weighing on domestic production. The Ministry of Agriculture, he said, is following the procedures to speed things up. He underlined that out of the 30 million ECU planned, only 11 million have arrived in Albania, while the rest is expected later. DURRËS — A quantity of smuggled cigarettes has been seized at the port of Durrës during an inspection by the relevant services.
