Prosecution in the Arsidi case

17 years of sentences for the three accused On Monday the defense lawyers for Sadi, Taranti and Ahmeti will speak BRONDO LIAÇI TIRANA — Yesterday the prosecution phase in the “Arsidi scandal” concluded, asking the court to issue its ruling in the courtroom. The prosecutor, Mr. Muçi Tarelli, requested a sentence of 17 years in prison for all three accused. Sadi Taranti and Ilir Ahmeti face six years in prison each, while a five-year prison term was requested for Aldin Ahmeti. Under Article 20 of the Penal Code, the defendants will also lose the right to hold state office and the right to vote for five years. The case began at the end of last summer, when several families came to our country from Italy, having each paid 5,000 dollars to secure work and housing in Albania. According to the prosecution, they were deceived by the defendant Sadi Taranti, who promised them housing and work, while the payments ended up in his hands. The prosecution said the other two defendants were also part of this scheme. Testimonies, statements and excerpts from the investigative records were read in court. According to the prosecution, the defendants’ actions caused serious consequences for the arriving families, who were left without housing, without money and without support. On Monday, the defense lawyers for Sadi, Taranti and Ahmeti are expected to speak. In the photo, the three defendants

Albanian cinemas: violence, sex and horror

Albanian cinemas: violence, sex and horror Immature films and Greek subtitles Specialist Shpëtim Kërçeri: “This is in violation of the laws” ANDUA STEFANI TIRANA — In the summer and during the season of screenings, in most cases the cinema repertoire consists of action, erotic and horror films. Cinema specialists say that this trend is harming the audience’s aesthetic education and undermining the cultural mission of the theaters. In some cases, according to them, technically unfinished copies have also been shown, with Greek subtitles. Shpëtim Kërçeri, a specialist in the field, said that this goes against the laws and rules governing film distribution. He stressed that the lack of control and the thirst for profit have led to abuses, putting unsuitable material into circulation. In his view, the responsible institutions should intervene to establish minimum standards and protect the public, especially younger age groups.
