No change in Government

Chairman of the Sedin: Lawyer Alesi is not being told by PD No change in Government “Evidence is needed for the composition” ANDREA STEFANI TIRANA — Apparently the submission of prosecution documents, implicating former Defence Minister Safet Zhulali as well as former president Ramiz Alia in the same case, has temporarily defused the government crisis. Yesterday, the representative of the socialist parliamentary group Arben Malaj openly called for the prosecution of the former Defence Ministry and other officials for arms trafficking, at a time when the country was under the UN embargo against former Yugoslavia. At the same time, this lawsuit also calmed the wave of speculation about a reshuffle of the government cabinet. “Evidence is needed for the composition,” President Sali Berisha declared yesterday, dismissing talk of imminent changes in government. “It is not a matter of names, but of causes and evidence,” the head of state implied. Against this backdrop, political tension has once again shifted to the debate over weapons and state responsibilities. The Socialists have insisted that there must be no double standards in the investigation and that the documents must be made public. On the other hand, officials from the majority have called for no political judgments to be made before the legal verifications are completed. Whether there will be further procedural developments in the case against Zhulali and Alia remains to be seen in the coming days. For the moment, the government seems to have avoided an immediate crisis. Secretary of the Democratic Party, Eduard Selami

The strongest side of the 17th week was Milan, which with its win against Napoli reconfirmed its place at the top of the standings. Parma remains very close with a steady run, while Juventus disappointed once again. In England, Nottingham Forest continues its positive run. On Monday morning, the sports front was dominated by analysis of the matches and anticipation for the coming week. The main attention remains on the title battle, where Milan seems to have found a better rhythm than its direct rivals.
