"Sotiriros", still a mystery
The story of a police report
VLORË - A series of police reports and testimonies collected by the police of Vlorë concerning the ship “Sotiriros”, which was seized with a large cargo of cigarettes, have raised many questions. The case remains unclear both as regards the ownership of the goods and the ship's true route. According to sources, the documentation presented contains obvious inconsistencies and does not explain how 86 tons of cigarettes were brought in and transported. The report mentions several people and port authorities, but without clarifying the final responsibilities. Investigations are continuing and the competent authorities are expected to issue an official version. The “Sotiriros” case has drawn great public attention because of suspicions of large-scale smuggling.
