Winter, hair and darkness

BLACK OUT Due to uncertainty in hospitals and the capital, electricity was cut off. The phenomenon is relentless and merciless in many cities of the country! Winter, hair and darkness Electricity: around 700 faults a day in Tirana How much energy is produced... TIRANA - We have all noticed that, instead of taking serious measures to prevent the rush of unauthorized construction at the dawn of the terrible wave of emigration, the government has closed its eyes to this phenomenon. It is impossible these days to find a building that has not been erected without a permit or that has not undergone some change to the approved project. We are not talking about the pyramid-shaped constructions that have violated every urban planning rule, even the sidewalks of the streets. In the agreement, the Tirana Municipality has opened hundreds of files on urban planning violations. Its own specialists acknowledge that the scale of unauthorized construction is alarming and poses a danger to the city. Does ENEL deal every day with 70 to 80 electric shocks? No, with the lights. In just one week this enterprise has identified more than 20,000 illegal connections to the network. Specialists speak of an extraordinary overload of consumption, which causes failure after failure. Furthermore, the problem deepens because of weather conditions. In Tirana, according to sources from the electricity sector, around 700 faults are recorded per day. Cracks, old cables, damaged insulators and the worn-out distribution network make the situation dramatic. As for production, the data speak clearly. The power plants of Fierzë, Koman and Vau i Dejës do not manage to meet demand, especially when drought or frost reduces inflows. In the published graphs, one can see the fluctuation in production and the shortage of electricity per person. This is why outages have become part of everyday life and citizens, hospitals, enterprises and schools are facing serious consequences.

Helsinki Committee The "expansion" of damages without a lawyer TIRANA - "The background seems very dark, but there is also a green light." This is how Antonio Stango, chairman of the Helsinki Committee, expressed himself during a meeting held in Tirana, where some of the findings from observations on the human rights situation were presented. He stressed that the main concerns remain mistreatment in the investigating offices, the lack of legal defense in some cases, and detention conditions. According to him, the justice system needs to be reformed so that citizens do not remain "without a lawyer" in the face of violations. The report is also expected to be sent to international organizations.
